This annoys me, it's some weird form of one-upmanship. Congratulations on your your superior knowledge of grim world events that you only learned about a second ago.

People are only aware of what the media reports. Western news stations cover western countries.

there's a bombing in Iraq every week at least, if not more. And it usually doesn't happen during a massive public event, it tends to be reserved to random roadside stuff (usually aimed at tanks etc) or to car bombs and shop bombs. It's terrible but it's a totally different situation to what happened in America.

Ehhh as someone who was there, it's more than that. Civilians are often a target, similar to this Boston shit, but then they have secondary IEDs/explosives setup for when first responders show up so it's a double whammy.

I was explaining to nitz why a bomb in Iraq doesn't get as much coverage as a bomb during a public even in America.

Well yeah that and all brown people are evil to most western news networks.
If they covered all the shit like this going on in the world with as much fervor as say Boston, then everyone would be desensitized by now (that and maybe they'd wake up that it's always the innocents getting fucked up no matter what color, country, creed, religion etc) and ratings would drop.

remember people, it's our job to help people like this be a bit more informed and less ignorant.

it's a shame that blind racism gets passed between generations. you hear young kids repeating the same phrases their parents say or freinds who have gotten it from theirs etc

mad to think that the perception of 'terrorist = Muslim' is still so prevalent and the default for so many people.

i wonder what their views on terrorism would be when they hear the amount of civilians that get blasted daily from their own American governments. pakistan, afghanistan etc. It seems like they're hitting more civilians and innocent people than actual 'targets' at the moment.

A hand full of explosions in the 'land of the free' and suddenly all this dormant racism bubbles up.

freeduurrrrm.

You wanna know how stupid I can be...

I thought this thread was going to be about people clogging twitter with repeated excessive condolences...

I was shocked and unnerved when I saw what people were actually saying...

Everyone's so polarised and hateful. So Jingoistic.

What does fill me with hope for humanity is that the majority of people there helped each other. Watching the videos and just seconds after the blasts people are running towards the carnage to help.

Luckily, in times of crisis most of us band together and help each other out. Idiots like that should just be ignored.

Don't link it again, mods locked and edited the previous thread because of it.
Just google Boston Marathon bomb leg or gore and it should pop right up.
