pete bubonic wrote:Pretty devisive! A lo of people are saying over hyped and I must be missing something, because this went from having its debut on radio, to being released in just two days with one teaser video at Coachella. Has there been some huge hype campaign I missed or is it just the social media hype that you guys are referring to?
this commercial every weekend

the countless youtube "leaks" that were just looped versions of that commercial

& the #EDM facebook fans posting a NEW HD LEAK DAFT PUNK!!! 25 times a day

im glad some people enjoy it & itll probably sound better on the radio than that taylor swift dubstep but i cant help but see it thru the eyes of a cynical old fuck

It's just a great, catchy pop song isn't it? Sounds great on the radio and will sell by the bucketload.

People saying stuff like "there's better disco etc being released all the time, it's just hyped cos it's Daft Punk", please post some links. I don't pay much attention to nu disco etc but if there's stuff as good as this coming out regularly I would love to hear it.

That Crazy P tune posted, while it's perfectly nice and well-produced etc, just sounds like any other non-descript disco/funk to me. No real hook or catchiness to it imo.

^^ thanks, great tune. It's kind of cheating though as the best part of it, the catchy vocal hook, is taken straight from the original tune.

Yes cheating, as it's not an original hook, just a replica of an existing one from the 80s. As I said still a great tune though. Would love to hear more.

i suppose it's just sort of a natural consequence of the retro house revival thing thats been going on, they're just going a little bit further back

but the disco stuff they're making is terrible.

just stick with the house, bar disclosure, you can fuck off.

this is partly why i'm so interested to see how it will do charts wise.

it's getting rinsed to death over here, swear they play it every hour.

The tune is an edit, the hook itself is just directly copied from the original.

Re being the 'new cool thing', disco influences and edits have been a thing for a while now haven't they? I'm sure the Numbers lot have been playing them for a while.

Haha yeah I don't pay too much attention to it, doesn't do a lot for me on the whole but I will be doing some digging.

On the subject of which, I'm liking the sound of this release - http://www.junodownload.com/products/ot ... 883770-02/
