From my experience, it seems that they believe it makes them look "gentlemanly" and then can use it as part of their "nice guy" act they put on for girls that will never have sex with them.

				It's just an easy-fix, corny attempt to look well put together. By wearing trenchoats etc rather than the standard hoodie/shirt and cargo pants it's like having a sense of style automatically. It doesn't work though and they still look mostly slobbish.

				It's the same reason people are into obscure fashion/ overly expensive clothing brands. To make up for their lack of personality and self worth they feel the need to 'peacock' and so are no longer a weird nerd they are now a weird nerd with a fedora and people will notice them, whether in a negative way or not lol.

Yes these people are always slightly overweight 20-something guys and have long hair as well.
EH - I figured it was just a cover, but I appreciate the extra effort they put in to making the other article names hilarious as well.
