Ugh, tbh Stephen probably didn't deserve a name - Millwall supporters are some of the scummiest people I have ever had the misfortune of meeting.

You have never been to North Manchester and witnessed a City trough, the pork scratchings have a higher IQ than the regulars combined.

I've been to Manchester though and everyone seemed lovely. But this is partly my point - football does seem to draw an unrepresentative-of-wider-society amount of twats..
Do twats just love football or did football make people into twats? A question for the ages..

If it wasn't football, it'd be something else. Probably crisps or something.
"You a cheese & onion fan?"
"Nah, salt & vinegar mate"
"You fuckin' what?!"

It's just the type of person who needs a shirt to speak for them. Same with bands and music.

I really dont think it would be...
Me and my friends and people i've met who don't have an interest in football have never once had that conversation.
I have no problem at all with people that are into it, I just want to know why people are.
and nobody has been able to answer that question properly.
If people wasn't brought up to think that liking football is the norm and disliking it was weird, would as many people still enjoy it?
If you came over here from a different country and you'd never watched it before, would you enjoy it?
Or is it mainly because you've been brought up to think its good?

Not on about you, I'm on about the sort of people that are overly tribal about football. If football wasn't there, they'd latch onto something else to be tribal about.
People just like football bro, don't think you're gonna get a better explanation than that. Just don't throw a fit about it. I don't complain when some mutant asks me if I like x-factor or something. If you don't like people who react weirdly because you don't like something, then don't hang around with them I guess?

They could say the same about music scenes 'Why are you wasting money on these records by these over payed DJ's?'

Because I feel a personal connection to their music, it improves my quality of life and i want to support them so they can continue to add joy to my life
not because "i dunno some people just want to"

Now how many of you would honestly say that statement is true in relation to football?
