Worked on one named "What are the structural solutions to carceral overpopulation" in a criminology class, but it's more of a research paper though. Also did some work on "Can sovereign states be held accountable to their own citizens for their security policies in virtue of international instruments and before international jurisdictions" and again that's a research paper. they were both team work

I don't really understand what a dissertation is in the UK and the US, do you just pick a subject, do your research and start writing ? It's not in relation with any course you're following ?

"The attitudes and perceptions of student nurses toward substance abuse disorders and substance-dependant patients. A qualitative exploratory study."

Start mine in May - 6 interviews then 15,000 words so shouldn't be too bad :corncry:

really? everyone i know at my uni doing a undergrad chemistry/biology/physics have to do a dissertation
Oh, dunno, things might've changed a bit since I was at Uni. Either that or they've started calling reports/reviews dissertations. In my mind, dissertations are kinda half way in length between a report and a thesis, so 100ish pages or 30000ish words?

I was under the impression that all music-based degrees required a dissertation about compression.
But then, what i'd like to understand is how to best master sub-heavy music to make it both system-worthy & home-listening friendly.

Jesus christ writing a dissertation on compression or mastering would be horrible. It's the sort of thing you can literally spend a life time arguing about (what so you think mastering engineers do when not at work?)

is this your bachelor thesis? 3rd year, before you advance to master's courses? a dissertation is what you call the 200pages+ book you gotta write to get your PhD.

if so: examinating roman emperor Gallienus' reception in both Historia Augusta and Aurelius Victor's Liber De Caesaribus, with special attention to his reform of the senate.

basically because it's much easier to write something on ancient greek/rome than on anything else.
