It's definitely not this but fun to see how afx still pays attention to dance music.

I own that release. It's 10 years old now though.
One of the reviews on discogs is pretty funny.
Now, I'm not a huge fan of ragga, but ragga-jungle-drill 'n' bass? I think it's a genius combination, one that only the demented mind of Mr. James could discover.
Or Alec Empire 10 years before that release? And the gigantic scene of mash-up ragga breakcore he spawned? IDM kids are funny.

Exactly.
Although I know remarc was very much into squarepusher, so there's sort of a circle thing going on.

Sources? I believe it, though. They were doing similar things back then. I consider early Squarepusher pretty much jungle.
It's not that I don't think Aphex Twin or Squarepusher or any of those folks didn't contribute to jungle or drum & bass. Just the fans who single them out as inventors. They were mostly bandwagon jumpers (which is fair, most musicians are).

Haha! I used to host a breakcore night in my old city and we had Rotator play one of them and I asked him about Repeater. Apparently, Rotator's been BEGGING Repeater to release more tunes, but no dice. He's just not into it anymore.
To people wondering who we're talking about:
One of the sickest ragga breakcore producers.

We used to have a connection with shitmat, wrongmusic and bangface, relating to bookings. I spoke with remarc and squarepusher was apparently the magic word.

It's more of a fedora notion to discount the times we're living in. Like imo Lil B is an actual deity, squarepusher is the alienjazz bass god and that's fine.

you are getting far too excited over someone who has a really inconsistent back catalogue though
