i definitely wldnt have gone on my own and thats wot i meant by saying thanx to wotless! i didnt need them to hold my hand or nutin! i just meant they made sure i was enjoyin myself. my fault tho on that one for bad self expression.

umm... i dont have many female friends that are into the same music as me full stop! (my best friend might have come but she's not yr typical girl, we have a shared interest in this gender stuff so she'd probably come as an experiment.) but as i do some music journalism and have always been a music person this is definitely of issue, that there are many nights i wld like to go to on my own and dont feel confortable or safe to; there arent many girls i know as into music as me and i'm interested in why... i have also met some girls who feel the same as i do.

incidentally how many of u lot are also girls? ; )

i have actually been to strip clubs where the girls have to go pee in the strippers changing rooms cuz there aint no girls loos. thats much worse!

lucky strike: soz i didnt mean to get so aggie b4. yr girl sounds interestin. i'm not scared of naked girls tho! nor a prude or asexual or have hairy face or nuting like that. promise.

Well there it is.
To summarise: some people think its a great idea, some don't. Whatever happens let's keep it positive. Whatever some people say, this party is about the music just like this forum is. To misquote somebody I forget, the music is the winner.

Of course, a lot of the girls who go to nights don't make it any easier on themselves by dressing the way they do... it works both ways.
so...time to come out as a girl init, and 2 say that, tbh respect an all ufo, but I find this a little bit much coming from a 20 yr old boy. some twisted idea that boys just can't control themselves at the sight of a bared ankle.

have 2 say tho that the general lack of dickhead geezers, the on yr case and in yr face sorts, is what I always liked about dubstep. you can't even understand the relief of, as a bird, bowling in2 a club, lighting yr spliff and chillin in the corner without all the 'so can I buy you a drink then darlin' bollox. if anything boys at dubstep dos are like 'seeeen...so you're into the tunes'. which is all good.

*newsflash* re: all girls who strip enjoy it. they're paid to. so you think they are and you give them more money. and whilst they might at points be having a wikid time, and not ever having a terrible time, I'm sure getting your tits out for the 25th hour that week could get a little trying...

A lot of people are idiots. You don't need to be older to realise that. It wasn't even the main point of my posts... :)

tru enuf, but u seemed 2 suggest that girls should check how they stay 2 combat this. not our fault, any more than it is yours, but it's the way of the boy to make it birds' responsibility. deal with the problem at hand init - allow the idiots

Yeah totally, the responsibility is on the guy.. but doesn't it stand to reason that if you wear fuck all, you're going to attract attention to yourself - negative and positive? It's just me being realistic that there are idiots out there... you gotta do what you can to combat it, whether you're a guy or a girl.

dnb + class a drugs + strippers = messy. there was a long standing dnb party here in new york a few years ago, that had strippers mixed in with dnb dj's. it kicked off for the first few nights, and then it became a total cock festival to the point that there was easily 8 guys to every 1 non stripper female. a bit ridiculous, and lot's of fist fights. good luck with your party, but i'd have some serious bouncers ready in case things kick off.

yeah still not buying that the way fwd to combat idiot guys is for me to get burqa'd. p'raps I'd just better not go out. that should do it...

That's why we don't just put parties on in strip clubs, we put parties on with different music in different places. this is just one of them, and we have already done one so there's no need to worry about security or anything, we got all that sorted last time. There was no trouble whatsoever, there was the least attitude i think I have ever seen at a night playing this kind of music.

I played at the last event - there was a girl with me and she wasn't bothered by anyone all night apart from the club owner.

Cheers for that Plastic, didn't know about the club owner though. He is a bit of a t%$t to be fair.

A strip club wouldn't exactly be the venue of choice for a couple of girl friends; However the night was still enjoyable. I don't believe the strippers were detrimental to the music nor did they tarnish the night for me (apart from the one who had nappy rash!). As far as nights like these tarnishing the scene I think thats a rather exaggerated reaction, strikes me as a bit prudish. Also the club was quite compact, it would be impossible to have a 'susage fest' maybe a cocktail susage? The size of the club if anything rerstricts any mingling and is good for anyone who just wants to be there for the music. There was a fairly good split as far as I could tell, yet I can't comment on any interacting with gorilla bouncers or owners from a female perspective owing to my gender, but a friend from up north did comment to me that she weren't to impressed with thongs walking about the place...it is fair to say I didn't mind, I tried to tell her it was art :D

End of the day it's a fun, one off night, ok some gals won't appreciate half naked chix walking about the place, but it's not like its sprung on them when they walk through the door. I'd reccomend going with a group of guys and gals you'll have a giggle, it's like ronsil it does exactly what it says on the tin, no need to contact Trading Standards.

You raised an interesting point bribkin i have had this conversation with many people before but it was about techno, we noticed when we went to see the detroit bods like jeff mills, derrick may, dj bone etc in the uk there would seem to always be 80% men, yet if you go to europe its always a much more mixed crowd seeing these Djs, I have only been to DMZ once in leeds (had a really good night whens the next one) but i would say the crowd where very much mostly male, what makes a certain kind of music more male over female (in crowd ratios), going to garage nights a few years back there was always a very equal ratio of males to females.

Its very confuisng does it depend on the venue or on the popularity of the music or is it possibley the lack of female associations to the music im not being derogatory here but i think it is an interesting question.
