An interesting observation. I think breakcore is too sonically busy to easily cram more subs in there without creating insane/unmasterable transients and jungle's reliance on a predefined palate prevents it from getting too nuanced. Also think that drumfunk is kind of an attempt to bridge both shortcomings - more design and more interesting structurally.

I keep coming back to the Torque album for some reason tho.

speaking of Subtle: Gantz (you know, the dubstep guy?) is one half of dnb/drumfunk outfit Psycho-Mantis who have released on Subtle aswell.
