i've noticed that jack sparrow and loefah have some wonderfully smooth but powerful wubwub. but i just dont get how its done.
ive tried sines, saws, squares, triangles, parallelograms the whole fecking lot. 12/24/36db/oct lowpass filters.... nothing gets close to their seriously heavy WABWABWABWAB.
anyone know what the secret ingredient is? its driving me bonkers.
i'm using Z3ta, and the only really useful thing i found was automating the LFO tempo sync so you can easily change the rhythm of the wub by drawing automation curves in. blap.

You can also take a bassline and double it up and then pitch one up or down a little bit. The offtime phase cancellation will cause the sound to wobble. Also the speed of the wobble will increase or decrease depending on which note you hit next.
i mentioned that exact same method on the reaktor forums... i thought i was soooo original too!
its a killer method.
Haha, it's a wicked effect. Plus it's easy to get real scientific with it and come up with some really moving basslines(for example, add ring mod for spice).

couple of ways. microkorg has a wicked internal LFO... one of the presets, i think in 'trance/techno' is preset as a lfo bass.
in the mpc, sample the sound you want, give it a lowpass filter w/ resonance, and in 'lfo' assign it all the way to the filter. for speed, give it something below 1.0... like .33, etc...
