Dubstep was the first form of music to assign an LFO to a filter cut off, it's true.

haha you guys are paranoid! just because there's a wobbler in it?

man, that's ridiculous. really entertaining how people keep looking for some sort of hint to dubstep-copy-cat-ism (great word too).

dubstep is cool and everything but it's not like dubstep equals the invention of the wheel and shall get credit for EVERYTHING that is currently happening in the worldwide music scene. (but, it's true that everything influences everything and everybody and always has).

and, it's logical that big producers will catch up on underground music for inspiration (they can't listen to pop shit all day, need some proper distraction, e.g. dubstep, drum n bass, whatever).

but it's just a wobbler. it's not even the same tempo or halfstep oder anything dubbed out. so i would say has pretty much nothing to do with current dubstep, besides maybe a slight bass similarity. but that would be like saying some random noise artist copies dubstep because he has massive subs under his wall of distorted sound, get me?

LFO: haha, yeah, dubstep invented this dubstep invented that... come on, dubstep is dope but it's not like it brought so much new stuff. just took the dark uk garage music to a more halfstep beat and put more sub under it, sometimes brass melodies or synths, sometimes dubbed out sounds. that ain't sooo new, but of course producers put this minimal stuff in a very excellent context, that's the NEW thing. the sounds and production methods have always been quite similar.

bass has always been important to club culture, but yeah probably dubstep is most keen of sub bass.

wobble: probably hasn't been used to such an extrem content as in current dubstep (which is getting a bit tiresome), but still has always been used. just check out the old vintage synths like moog etc. they all have lfo modulation on the filter and used that heavily.

hmmm...no mentions of how it's wrong for the thread starter to have illegally obtained the Britney album? not to mention wtf was he/she doing downloading Ms. Spears to begin with. seems like if you want to ban discussion of downloaded pre-release stuff, you've got to bin this thread too.

anyway, if you think d/l is stealing, it's stealing no matter how big the artist is.

i'd be willing to bet it was the Dubstep remix of My Love that got her hooked on the sound. that and her 5am "oh noes the cokes all gone" paranoia.

oooooor perhaps... the producer cottoned onto whats probably the most exciting underground sound at the moment and decided to pinch an element from it? its not exactly that unbelievable is it.
