DrGatineau wrote:$32 for kahn + locals seems extremely high, that would be like $10 tops around here. what's the catch?
well it's a bit less but the last ~$10 are venue and "service" fees (can get tix at the door to avoid shit fees but it'll sell out by then). pretty standard here in LA for any international bookings. $10 is like the lower bound here, and at that price it's very very low key stuff

A weeks take home for a night out isn't unreasonable.

TBH, Dubstep started going downhill once the Americans got involved. By having a London event with exorbitant costs associated with it, they are exercising a form of social cleansing by limiting the number of them that can attend.

DMZ has always been about keeping it real, so this is a nice way to ensure the purity is maintained.

Bought tickets, might go. Depends what else is going on that weekend.

If not, tickets will be sold on for double the face value via social media.

Dubstep has become about profiteering, sadly. But that's no reason to not get involved :)

THIS AINT AMERICA MANE

like columbine, ferguson, nra, refusal to let poor people have free healthcare its just another compelling reason not to live there

'i live in liberia and a night out cost like a doller dmz are dicks'

what are your club nights so expensive though, swear reconstruct is like $80 or something ridiculous

Fair amount of clubs guarantee that anyway. Think we have around two times
the minimum m2 per person that's in the fire regulations.

It still seems quite packed regularly though. The extra space is often just around the bar area,
where the volume is the lowest and the lights are bright.

:z:

It's all relative.Try finding a 'cheap' night listed at Electric.

Renegade Hardware £25.87 + booking fee
DJ Luck & MC Neat Presents The 20 Year Anniversary (   ) £23 + booking fee

Even the Black Butter Records birthday part is the better part of £15 with the booking fee, and they're hardly in the same league.

Bit of everything tbh, South London Boroughs, (Skeng - I think), some trap/footwork, Roll Up - Flosstradamus was good. Finished with the first play of The Bug - Dirty + they cranked RC1 which got like 3 wheels

RE - Ticket prices

Like Mason said, its the conflicting rhetorics that are most problematic here.

Mala espesh preaches this 'community' 'celebration' vibe, which implies an inclusivity that is then turned on its head by charging this $$$.

This coupled with the other monetary quibbles that people have around DMZ/Medi: records don't get repressed, punters get skanked 2nd hand, pricey DJ sets, etc. explains a bit of the moaning

Never know, the lineup will probs justify the costs but I struggle to see how when they're liable to take £50k if it sells out.

Only sensible course of action. If people thought the 8th birthday was a bit unpleasant when it was rammed, it'll have nothing on a roadblocked Electric.
