when the stream went down right after joe reloaded DMZ vs MZN, i swear you could hear this collective cry of very sad people. "NOOOOOOOOOO!" or wait, maybe that was just me yelling really loud...anyhow...

i was chatting with someone on AIM last night and they were suggesting the "LOST DUBS" concept should be more than once a year -- twice at the most. I've got no issue at all doing a show in January -- then (let's say) another show in July.

Any thoughts to this?

Bare in mind -- i've got "special shows" for later in the year that i'm considering -- such as:

1. An old school "Baltimore Club" show.
Many of you know this is the sound i used to play before i was infected with the dubstep virus. I've got enough for at least an hour. Nothing but the classics.

2. An old school dubstep show.
This is every year. Not gonna change. You know you all want to hear those old Horsepower and Wookie tunes on repeat.

3. A "post-show" show. I'll explain.
For the long-time listeners of the show, when i'm done playing dubstep -- i'll reach for whatever 12" tunes are sitting around. You might get some Stevie Wonder. You might get some New Edition. You might get some Lionel Richie. Tears For Fears or Duran Duran might make it on the decks. Anything goes. People have been clamoring for this show -- so, i'll make it happen.

Thoughts? Comments? Observations?

Let your voice be heard.

The 3th one for me.

Or like Boomnoise and pokes do: weapon of choice

Unfeasibly big! This should be required listening for all who call themselves dubstep aficionados

can we get a pre-show show as well? you know how i like my nu shooz and bobby brown and lisa lisa. ;)

i think having it more than once a year is a capital idea. tbh, it's responsible. especially considering more and more listeners are longing for the kinds of tunes that laid foundations. and i think, after all, it's important to 'dust these off', so to speak - so the next generation (or even current, really) of listenership are exposed to the basics and thus are inspired to do a bit of cratedigging themselves.

never forget where you came from business.

Life On A String even I forgot I made that track.

You seriously drew for the retro sling back production there!!!!

And its all about dropping Bobby Brown, Phil Collins and Kate Bush on the radio..... Nomad and I always enjoy a bit of Injury Time on the Rinse show!

true dat. tbh apart from gourmetbeats I hardly hear tunes that are more than 6 months old these days!

when I first got into the sound dj's would start off with something more familiar, be it reggae, dub, etc, then mix in the dubstep. I don't hear that much anymore, and I understand why: the listener base has become familiar with dubstep, so there's not as much of a need to seduce the audience's ears. I kinda miss it tho!
