Choice's been made on the Technics. I'm sure Vestax are more than fine but I trust Techs more for the long-term.

Serox, if you don't mind watching a french movie sometimes get yourself "bernie" & "enfermés dehors". 1st one is a classic and the 2nd is pretty much in the same vein. Albert Dupontel is probably my favorite fr actor and a damn fine director.

Plenty guys like to go crazy and mix tunes pitched up more than 10%.

Anyway Vestax are solid as fuck. Mine have been through the wars, dropped several times and they are still going. The plastic just slightly dented whereas i've seen dropped technics break in half.

why would you not buy technics!?

I like French films yeh. I have watched Vincents other famous films and will check them ones you have said asap.

Bit of a gimmick thing if you ask me. Records can sound funny at the wrong speed because the dynamics change (as I am sure you know Manray).

Haha I have to admit it is annoying that they keep releasing new decks with no new features what so ever. There is always room for improvement with any piece of hardware and they do need to stop their swelling ego and do something new with the amazing foundations they already have.

Vestax keep innovating why arent the original innovators innovating any more!!!

Technics have the game on lock down loop right now. The clubs buy 1210s so the DJ's use 1210s so the wannabees buy 1210s.

I mean for fuck sake :

1200 released in 1972

1210 MK2 released in 1978 (improved the motor and shock resistance, added a ground wire, and changed the rotary pitch control to a slider style. This is now the base model and is the oldest still in production.)

1200M3D released in 1997 (Added quartz lock button)

1200MK5 released in 2002 (increased anti stake from 3grams to 6. oh and they changed to an LED light which lasts longer. cost about 1p to add probably)

1210M5G released in 2002 (added button for 8% or 16% pitch)

Seriously? If this was any other product people would have fucked off by now, considering stantons are probably better than technics these days the only reason they are still going is because they have legendary status amongst audio and vinyl nerds that rather spend the weekend spunking all over themselves than anything else.

Do agree completely but if they are in all the clubs it is an advantage to practice on the same things you are playing out on. If I had enough cash I would buy a pair of Vestax, Stanton & Technics and give them all a run through and make up my mind that way, however I cant. So I went witht eh tried and tested 2 years ago and dont regret it so no biggie!

So you got the Techs... good choice. But no one brought up the main obvious reason to get them.

Almost every club you will ever play at will have them.

Same thing with Serato, Pioneer's DJM 800s or 1000s and at one time, the DJM series of mixers.

That was enough reason for me to get them. My first (real) pair were the Stanton Str-80s (their best at the time) with the +16 and the keylock. I liked them, and when I got used to them they were fine.

Although, after preparing for a set and getting a mix ready for a show where I used the +16 to make a mix possible, and then going to the show and realizing that said mix wasnt possible since I was on Techs, I hardly ever used it again. It always took a minute to adjust to the Techs too, and that was always the first few records, which are the confidence records early on in your career, and those first few flubs would always make me more nervous and take some of the fun out of my set.

If I could afford it, I would get a pair of the PDX-2000s for the fun of having them around though, like Shiva said, that ultra-pitch bizness is the bizness! They even make tone records with a chart that shows what pitch is what note so you can play sheet music with them!!!!

If I had money to just throw away, it would be on some QFO's... those things are fuckin amazing. They have guitar strap locks and a locking tone arm FFS! You could walk around the club with a wireless system while scratching. WHAT? But at $1700 a piece... not gonna happen for a while...

+16 with vinyl is whack.

Not with Serato and Keylock That shit's near flawless for +20/-20 BPM...

Disclosure: I do like 160 bpm Dj Assault mixes with Ring My Bell on 45 +8.

I've used Technics all my life (using the SL-1210M5G right now) and I honestly wouldn't go with anything else. I have tried other turntables but none of them have ever interested me more than a Technics.

I personaly am going to buy cheap as chips american audio decks, in a bundle, with a mixer.. plus they have usb audio interfaces, not sure how usefull these will be but i'm not paying any more to have them!

total £220 decks and mixer, can't wait..

Anything's gotta be better than the belt drive unit i'm using right about now lol, with its wonky platter
