Moving along...any horror film scene where the camera goes overhead. Seems to signify: you don't really want to be there.

For me...

Casino - baseball bat scene
American History X - shower scene, biting the curb
Saw III? - cistern mashed foot
Passion Of The Christ - the nailing

Audition sounds pretty twisted!

Was Pasolini murdered because of Salo? I thought it had something to do with him being a communist. But then again I'm sure Salo must have twisted some panties.

Cant see the ol' wikipedia as I am in China so I may be totally off the mark here.
yeah who knows really what the reason was. there were definitely some twisted minds involved tho

My mate showed me a scene from hostel today, it wasn't at all unwatchable but just struck me as tremendously gratuitous and depressing. Some woman hanging from a ceiling with her tits out (of course), some men in leather jackets (of course) lighting candles (of course) and then another woman coming in (of course) getting her tits out (of course) and then bathing in in her blood (of course).

What is the point of a film like that unless you are a) an imbecile or b) a psychopath?

Oh connected with the Marquis De Sade and Salo, Quills is on Film 4 at 11.05 tonight if anyone's interested.

The infamous writer, The Marquis de Sade of 18th Century France, is imprisoned for unmentionable activities at Charanton Insane Asylumn. He manages to befriend the young Abbe de Coulmier, who run's the asylumn, along with a beautiful laundress named Madeline. Things go terribly wrong when the Abbe finds out that the Marquis' books are being secretly published. Emperor Napolean contemplates sending Dr. Royer-Collard to oversee the asylumn, a man famed for his torturous punishments. It could mean the end of Charanton and possibly the Marquis himself.

Yeah, de Sade got a much worse rep than he deserved I think, so in a way it's probably closer to the truth. From what I can remember from the biography it's fairly accurate (as accurate as fictional recreations can be). He wasn't quite the lunatic that people seem to think he was.

One of the worst scenes is in Marathon man when he's getting tortured..

Irreversible: Fire Extinguisher Scene

I found the baseball bat attack in Sympathy for Mr Vengeance particularly difficult to watch.

Anyone seen 2001 Maniacs with Robert Englund? Havn't seen it personally but have seen the infamous 'Human kebab' scene on youtube.
