Lol, that won't happen anytime soon.. old William's up to his old tricks again, fighting with anyone and everyone, this time the label. Walked out on the video shoot (hence he's not in it) and is threatening to leave the label.

A pro as always!

But no, in all honestly this tune is complete, pop garbage.. but, at the same time, it's the biggest tune he's ever made in my opinion. It has more commercial appeal than anything else coming out of the entire 'Garage umbrella' scene (UKG, Bassline, Dub, Grime..) and is sure to go top 10. Pretty bored of it now to be honest, been supporting this one since getting sent the CD a couple months back, but I'll still drop it out and it'll still go off.

New promo CD came through the other day with 4 remixes. Couple of them are decent, only one I can remember by name is the Agent X mix which is pretty crap to be fair.

lets face it, grime scene isnt generating much money so the underground acts are FORCED to make commercial stuff to make p.

and even tho its not my cup of tee, i rate the hustle and respect those who make DECENT music...

wearing my rolex is a good tune, proper club banger, not a rave banger, but it wasnt ment for that.

BUT rolex sweep is jus a cheap knock off, and its a shit song musically, and to top it off the dance is jus pie. :|

whatever man. standard answer if you don't like the tune, don't listen to it. I personally hate that kind house riddim, but if im gonna end up in a place where that dry music is played, I'd rather wiley or skepta was over it than not if you get what I'm sayin..

fuck it, I'm lookin forward to seein what's gwarnin with this new album.

this is why i rate him for the tune, he aimed at a target audience and achieved it IMO.

if he wanted to make sumin gritty and underground he wouldnt of done it tbh.

Here's what people are saying, very interesting, don't know how true it is
Despite what others may suggest, Wiley is NOT a fan of Wearing My Rolex and has made it purely for the reason of courting a label. The overall plan was for Wearing My Rolex to do well, followed by Skepta doing well with Rolex Sweep and then finally completing the trilogy with a female hook driven It's Alright. The aim was to then build off of the commercial success of these tracks to then negotiate with a label for an all grime Boy Better Know album deal. However with all the issues that have arisen over the promotion of Wearing My Rolex, I can't see this happening anymore.

Walking off of the video set and not including the tracks on any grime mixtapes/albums is a 'grime reputation damage limitation' act, as he does not want to offend his 'real' fans.
p.s. He is not afraid of foxes.

Sorry, but did I miss something there?

You have no reservations about decrying the tune as 'complete garbage', but have been 'supporting' this tune since day one. You must have a pretty interesting criteria for selecting tunes there.

'Yeah bruv, I only play rubbish these days, nothing but the worst utter gashment. Standard.'

???

do u kno wot, big up william cos wotever he does, under it all he is a true grime head, NOT a sell out.

with the current state grime is in i dont blame him, it needs sum sorta rocket boosting so it can build itself back to its true nature.

i don't think grime's in a bad state at all... the level of the younger MCs is stupidly high and there's nuff quality music being made. just need MORE RAVES!

wearing my rolex is pretty much a cheap knock off of that bodyrox tune anyway. i reckon the beat for rolex sweep is better than the one for wearing my rolex though, and i definitely dont see how it has less value musically
