But thats not representative of the whole of America. I grew up in a family that loves hunting, owns guns and etc... but I personally hate them and only hunt for tunes. I would never own one and do not condone their ownership. I am also not alone in this type of thinking in this country.
Please do not paint the whole of America with the same brush, this is far to large of a country to generalize about.

Theres nothing wrong with gun ownership though really. Its all about the intent. Your always going to have people who have the will to kill another human being. Getting rid of guns wont change that and is pretty much impossible anyway.

No I do, and I fully realize that the gun nuts in our country (not a swipe at you Elements) give the rest of us a bad image... I do wish we had stronger gun control laws and that people would stop clinging to an outdated amendment as a reason to own one. 'The right to bare arms...' was put in the Constitution as a reaction to the time in which it was written, at a time of civil unrest and revolution. It holds no place in modern society.

Im sorry for the somewhat overreaction, but Im really worried about how the rest of the world is seeing us in relation to the RNC and this whole disgusting show of the strength of the media in shaping peoples opinions both here and abroad. I just feel that sometimes a bit of a reminder that this place is so vast an varied is needed, especially in the midst of all this.

Im really hoping the rest of the country is seeing through the bullshit smokescreen the right wing media in our country is putting up for these jokers.

tbh... i actually liked mccain in 2000. but he's completely gone down a different path since that republican primary.

Yeah, I agree. That McCain kinda made sense, stood up for what he seemed to be about, and matter of factly was 8 years younger.

Its those Republicans who will blindly vote for their party and believe whatever they say that scare the hell out of me. I mean, the Dems really arent that much better, but in my lifetime they have had a much better record of getting things done and their scandals have been a lot less damaging to our country.

Theres a guy I work with, who is a Rep. Talking to him about issues and this election is like trying to blow out a light bulb. Even if I can prove him wrong on something, he still blindly turns back to the Rep. talking points perpetuated by FoxNews with a 'yeah... but... Obama's got no experience' or something else echoed from FNN. When I say 'well neither does she, she ran a state with a small population for half a term, was a mayor of a small town or 9000 before that' etc... he counters with something like 'yeah but she's a mavrick'. Its scary to hear him talk about how Palin 'electrified her party', how Obama 'has no experience' and how much of a 'mavrick' she and McCain both are, etc. He sounds like a mindless clone, and Im afraid of how many more like him there are out there.

this is why i wish the whole world was entitled to vote, because if we were, trust me. obama would be in in a flash. looking at america from the outside, and seeing how this could potentially go so pear-shaped if brainwashed republicans don't shake their heads and wake the fuck up, is actually really frightening.
