im guessing the issue people are having is that "tech-house" as a compound nowadays implies Poker Flat or Paul Woolford or all that stuff, which generally has a pretty cold vibe? although definitely i think the darker ends of ASE are somewhere around there

ah clear now, you were talking about the perception side not the production techniques ;)

160bpm!? so chemical records recorded this at the wrong speed, the instrumental still sounds good, like some sort of funky/south african house thing, check it:

LOL @ wiley releasing a song called "summertime" in the middle of october!

(i kinda dig the tune though ; )

also that "barry white" breakdown in 'the message is love' can't be taken seriously.....that's gotta be a joke!

does anyone happen to know anything about the last tune in the radio 1 kode9 set misser blackdown has pointed us towards in his article?

with the epic synths. I hope to hear this again somewhere else, I think he might have played it when he did a similar live set at plastic people, but I'm not sure

Nice reading as per usual, thanks for the Kode9's set.

Just a word for that Dusk+Blackdown tune titled Focus, a clearly approach to the Detroit techno crossed-over with that 2-step syncopation, sounds like how it would sound a classic such as Knights Of The Jaguar nowadays, very very good! Congrats for making it possible.

Big ups!

Get you, though "techno-house influenced" not the same as saying their "tech-house sound"!

I hear a balaeric, deep house, or liquid sound (apart from the obvious dub and step)

Peace.
