I wish you the best of luck on your new website then. Out to everyone trying to retire via the internet. Your time.

and, its not a competition, because there's nothing to win. as someone said earlier, you can't put a price on community. thats the ethos.

in this age of social networking bombardment, i'd rather be involved in helping a group of people reach their musical dreams and spreading good music to the planet, than try and market or make money just to make money.

money corrupts just as much as it helps.
The way you are phrasing your statements shows the quality of your character, which is lacking obviously. Nobody said I was trying to retire from revenue of a website. You're not helping anyone reach any dream moderating this forum. Actually far from it. You're really pissing a lot of people off. I can't count the number of times I had heard what a dick someone thought you were before I signed up here. I figured benefit of the doubt and all.

Your overuse of melodramatics is a bit waste, to be honest.

I posed a question to those who have no say in anything around here, meaning not you. You stepped in and said "none of your business" basically. Considering I always make it a point to use the DSF link for buying off of beatport, and the fact that I contribute mixes and commentary on music here, I would say my opinion should hold as much weight as any other person here.

AGAIN:

IF, AND ONLY IF, DUBSTEPFORUM MAKES 22 GRAND A YEAR IN REVENUE, WHAT SHOULD THEY DO WITH IT...

and this question is posed at everyone BUT Seckle or Ivan. I hope that clears it up for the ignorant and unable to read massive.
points taken. do me a favor and don't put words in my mouth. you made a thread, and i commented in it. i'm sorry my comments didn't suit your agenda.

Why fix something that isn't broken?
Why improve gas mileage on cars if they already run just fine?

Why buy a new pair of shoes when you already have 3 good pair?

etc... because better is better. Better is also quite in the eye of the beholder... maybe I should make a post about constructive things we could change?

that isn't what you made, it's the value of the name of the site, based upon number of hits you get.

Dubway started this site because he was enthusiastic about a new style of music. he's stayed with it for 3 years (so far.. here's hoping to many more). if he makes money off of it (finally) I say he can do whatever he pleases with it - he's earned it. you see room for improvement - why don't you start a new site, instead of balking about the way someone else runs their site? if you've got $45k sitting around then surely you could do whatever you'd like. just don't disrespect someone else's hard work.
an aside: two years ago a concerned group of Los Angelenos and I felt like our city needed a dubstep scene. we chatted and got to know each other, and began planning events. guess what? we jump-started the scene, and to this day SMOG remains synonymous with LA dubstep. point is, we didn't just tell people how they could throw parties better, or why they should start playing dubstep - we did all the work ourselves. it also involved losing A LOT of money over the years... but many people have had great times and that's what counts. I think the same applies to this site.

and same here.. its not your business. Considering that the beatport link hasn't been there for long and thats also something that has been set up between DSF and beatport and seeming that DSF been provided for you and the rest of us FOR FREE its nice to help them out back isn't it? community spirit and all that.

your whole point that your making there if you put it into context is like saying to dubstep.fm "i gave you £1, now i want my own show and the site redesigned"

instead of having a whinge can't you just be thankful for what you've got? FOR FREE.

Couldn't the Wright brothers be content to stand on the ground and not fly? Not flying was free.

i come here to read and chat about dubstep, not to use the latest and greatest software. and i'm a software engineer, so you'd think i'd have a greater interest than most.

jog on.
