hah. pushing 2step to the backburner is pretty heinous, but someones gotta help out the elder elders, not everyone can afford a Stannah.

suprised no one mentioned Pinch. maybe not for his tunes and sound which is too deep underwater to reach and recreate but I guess he has been very influential in terms of being one of the main reasons why Bristol scene is so exciting lately.

and I wish people would just try to make some music instead of trying to beat Rusko and Caspa in creating heaviness :) they are a great little factory for party bangers but when too many people are just doing tunes to kill it on the raves it definitely makes dubstep sound less interesting and a little bit dried out imho.

Benga could have been mentioned before the 3rd page of this thread~!

Also for influential producers you could consider smith and mighty, kromestar, dubchild, wiley, headhunter, various production, moody boyz.. then going back I'd say Benny Ill and Artwork

there's obv. tons of important tunes that set bad boy precendents

I agree with you on Smith & Mighty but I reckon more Pinch then Headhunter for sure. Has Pinch even been mentioned yet? He started the techy bristol vibe afterall.

just because people's tune dont sound exactlly like Mala doesn't mean he can't inspire. For me, he hits the dubstep nail right on the head. His tracks of have tons of vibe and emotions to them, which i personally try and do in my tunes.

Mala... to most producer related questions on this forum, Mala is the only answer.

a tougher question is 'why are some producers not imitated enough to influence the current popular dubstep sound?'

too bad el-b isn't mentioned... i'd like for more people to 'think they greezy'... but they not

Mala - everyone likes his stuff, influential on Martyn if you ask me.
Coki - everyone copies his stuff

Loefah - helped half step dominate the scene for a time.

Kode 9 - influential as a label owner, no Burial without him.

Then of course Skream and Benga, the youngers influential the dance.

To be influential you dont have have people sound like a carbon copy.
