i've been trying to stay out of this thread as ive voted and therefore thrown my view in already.
i just thought i wud say that surely threads like "addidas vs nike" "legal highs" "9am work crew" "what do you look like" etc.. surely these are more of an issue. sure they are popular threads, but the dubstep forum? surely the off topic is better for these?
i dont mind what is decided as long as every1 abides by it, and it is clear where things shud get posted.
@ the mo the "Audio" forum doesnt specifically say Radio Shows (it says radio sets, which to me implies a recorded show, hence promotion threads for shows can stil be posted in the main one. I am prob wrong, but this is the clarification i would like so that i know and everyone else knows, ya get me?)
theres nuffin more annoyin than when you are abiding by the "rules" and other people are not. which is y if this "new forum" idea is gonna work you will need to moderate the posts that are in the wrong place so as people who do follow the rules dont lose out to people who dont.
Another point is that by moving radio elsewhere it sends the message to the lesser informed that its only actual releases that form the scene with radio as a side line. this imo is not what the scene shud be doin, how many tracks are there u love that havent, and prolly never will, see a release? this is y radio is so crucial to the scene, you can get to hear unheard/new to be released stuff in th comfort of your house, crucial for so many dubstep fans who cant get to a dance.
end of rant

big up Shy & 7 repping the dj's

Moderators need to be more active in terms of moderating what's against the dubsteforum rules, that hasn't been donne.
Threads like "Addidas VS Nike", "Legal Highs", "Wold Cup", etc... never should be left running on the main forum, is so obvious that's an offtopic thread!!! Also if there's a rule about no posting about radio show this should be apply to everyone.
I don't mind to follow the rules, but I want a fair game.
We all have got our jobs, we all spend time doing radio shows, moderating forums, hunting tunes. Let's try and do all of us the best job possible and be proud to be part of this.
Excuse my english
Bless u all

I agree with Conspira. I was looking at the main forum 'Dubstep' yesterday and I was wondering why some of the threads hadn't been moved to Off Topic (Nike/addidas - legal highs etc).
I don't know about a separate forum for radio shows, but I do think that anything, anywhere, that is off topic should be moved to off topic

How close to topic is a radio show?
IMO its bang up there. We're letting ppl know about a Dubstep show which ppl may want to know about.
I know I couldnt care less about Nike Vs Add or Legal High!
I come here for music and thats it!

just a point on the "I saw it on the dubstep forum " to me that would mean the whole site not just the particular section.
also most people who have something to push fill their signitures with the info anyway so every time they post the info is there infront of everyone's eyes so it not like there is a reduction of exposure.
given the option I'd get rid of the offtopic and make the dubstep one a general where anything can be discussed with the proviso there isn't already a relevant forum for that info.

Shy - sorry, I wasn't saying that radio shows should be moved off topic, I was just saying that all the other junk should be moved to off topic.
I'm not sure where radio shows should be, I think it worked quite well where they are (mainly in the dubstep forum) but I think if they were moved into the Mixes section we would all get used to it.
There are others who have suggested reducing the number of subsections on this forum. I don't think this would work, it's always best to keep things tidy!
A brilliant example of a well-run, busy forum with plenty subsections is the Sound on Sound forum.
Here's the link
http://www.soundonsound.com/forum?sessi ... a8a8143331
That forum works very well and this organisation seems to keep the crosstalk to a minimum.

Ez bro, I know what you were saying bro. Its kool.
I agree with you with regards to keeping the forum tidy. I also agree with having all sets in the music section. All I was pissed about was that we cannot put up a post b4 a show!
SoS is a wikid forum man, been on there for years. I suppose this forum is just growing and its a part of growning init.

Bro it aint just important its how a scene starts and grows. Radio is the birth place of most modern music! I think it may be you that needs to put things into perspective as you seem to think that general chit chat is whats building this scene...
I aint attacking you bro, we know each other, met each other but I cant believe you being such a Dubstep soldier cant see how important this is for all the Dark FM DJ's, all the Sub FM DJ's, all the Breaks DJ's and every other internet DJ!
I hope you can see my point
gigs, labels, releases and radio. all are equally important. you're painting this picture like i'm against radio, which is totally ridiculous. the thing that's important is keeping this place tidy, as well as functional.
you've got this thing about rinsefm vs darkfm, subfm. show me a case where we've moved a subfm or darkfm thread, but let a rinsfm thread stay? i want links to threads.
we've NEVER given one radio station preference on this forum, so make sure your accusations are based on something concrete. NOTHING has changed so far in regards to what you can do, or where you can and can't post radio threads. we'll be making a decision based on the outcome of this poll as well as other factors.
you want thousands of votes here? there hasn't been one poll on this forum where we've got more than 100 votes in total, and some of these polls have been open for months. we're not going to wait months here. this poll will end on monday aug 14th, regardless of vote number.

criteria for making a subforum:
-it has to be important for archive (recorded sets, production tips, dubstep database) or
-when it has to be transparent (events, radio shows)
only in those cases new forum is warranted. cos all these would be lost in Main forum.
radio shows consist of 3 parts:
-schedules
-recorded sets
-announcements (TONIGHT at xy fm...)
chedules and recorded sets undoubtably belong to Audio.
announcements can be in Main or in Audio.
if you want to move radio shows from the Main forum (as you expresed in pool), to make main forum more tidy, do it like this:
move radio shows to Audio forum - they perfectly fit there - they are audio, they are radio sets and they are streams - especially when radio chedules and recorded radio sets are there already.
Main forum will be more tidy and Audio will stay ontopic and tidy, and all radio show related topics (sets, sheduales) would be on same place.
i don't understand why do you think that your radio show will sufer form this change?
i'm giving you the strongest subforum (no bullshit - just music - downloads and stream) with small number of high quality topics: which will keep your threads tidy and in focus much longer.
i don't see why do you think that it makes it look like radio is less important - you are getting your own forum!!! together with most atractive topics - recorded sets and tunes!
actually, i'm thinking, do you deserve to be in such a good enviroment?
a lot of ppl don't even read the main forum, but just want to hear the music -> visit audio forum..
as far as i'm concerned - i would leave you to choose where to announce your show (in Main or in Audio) but i'm afraid that would cause mess and confusion - so i will have to make a decision.
sorry for bad english, any typo - i'm in a hurry..

in the past we've let certain threads stay in the main topic ( example : world cup thread, nike adidas, arsenal...etc). we don't let just any thread stay here, but sometimes threads which have a mass appeal that aren't on topic will remain on the main forum. obviously, once we make a decision about radio, it will apply to everyone , regardless of the radio station. i see your points nuno, and thanks for the input.

first of all: no changes have been done yet!
DJ $hy wrote:Why has none of the Rinse sets been moved? Do we really think that only the rinse FM DJ's are pushing the sound, are they gonna sustain this Dubstep growth? Do they NEED to post an advert, everyone knows when they play yet none of their sets have been moved, just all the up and coming DJ's get moved. Is this fair?
7 below wrote:Favourtism - whos allowed to post radio and who isn't?
what are you talking about!? not even one radio thread has ever been moved.
7 below wrote:Main Forum - whats it supposed to be for if not music, events, production, offtopic or radio?
everything else - trust me there is enough - just look at the Main forum.
what are you worried about exactly? that Main forum will be empty? lol
btw, releases are only in main forum

seckle - re: keeping OT threads in main forum becausr they have 'mass appeal'. I cant see how moving them would diminish their appeal, moving them would get the OT section buzzing. There seems a reluctance to post in the OT section, maybe cos the main Dubstep section is busiest, but thats no excuse to keep stuff there that doesnt belong there.
BTW - this forum is a great resource, I only have praise for you guys, my points are not a critisism at all. Keep up the good work (as long as its in the appropriate forum section

)

I'm not saying it has, but if you look at Seckle's comment here:

it def. appears that this will be the case in future, between say an established DJ's radio show, and a non-established DJ (who will prob. have less replies). To be honest tho, if you let the hype thread stay in the main forum for a few hours that would be probably enough. But as Conspira said, it shouldn't be one rule for some, and one rule for everyone else.

I can see your point about ease of archiving for download purposes etc. but i think this will greatly diminish the live listener figures for the online stations and its that live, pirate radio style community feel that has played a large part in the development of this music.
Whats wrong with having a little announcement on the main forum just for the day the shows on?

PLEASE POST ALL RADIO THREADS IN AUDIO SECTION.
HYPE/ROLL CALL THREADS CAN BE POSTED IN MAIN FORUM, BUT ONLY ONE DAY BEFORE THE RADIO SHOW OR ON THE SAME DAY AS THE SHOW.
IF YOU POST HYPE THREAD IN MAIN FORUM DON'T POST IT IN AUDIO SECTION TOO.
