i use earplugs every time i play, bought the first pair 2 years ago (with 15db filters) and i'm absolutely satisfied with them. it took 4-5 gigs tho to get used to them, because i kinda lost inspiration first, but this trade off is actually much more beneficial in the long run...

Well noticed the loss of hearing over the 10 years ive been raving.

I've worn earplugs in clubs for about 8 years now. If you don't, you are a stupid bastard. There are absolutely no good reasons at all for not wearing them, unless you actually want to be deaf when you're older.

well suppose if ur an artist or reach a few raves every week then it might be worthwile.

You can get generic ones for a tenner which will do a very good job, check Chemical or something, they sell em.

£130 aint that much really tho, i thought about how much money i spend destroying my body an health every week, an 130 quid aint nothing to actually do it sumthing to help protect it for a change lol.

I got mine from chemical records for £100 pro guard 1s i spend at least that every time i go raving.

Same heere every single time i get on decks after someone, i find monitors and cue levels turned up to the max...!! wooow man THAT is absolutely insane !!
I'm not considering myself as super sensible to high music levels, but still!

always have some just incase, all my mates have ear plugs aswell. even standard ones from boots are good. if the music is that loud it wont effect the sound. plus you can feel the music anyway.

Alot of my buddies rock em'///for several years now,...and seriously wished i followed their lead,, i have serious troubles hearing high frequency noises and speaking quietly is not an option while in conversation with me. It has created a great deal of frustration for myself, and others around me. IT actually has reached a point where it effects my everyday. and an appointment with an ear and throat doctor takes a hell of a long time on a waiting list.

So earplugs are a must imo....

i suppose its just damage over time.

some people's ears may wear down quicker than others. its protection either way i suppose.

Saw that 'it's all gone pete tong' film and it scared the shit out of me.

It's been said before but I really think everyone should consider buying at least some shit cheap earplugs, even if your hearing is fine at the moment - once you start noticing it going a bit funny then it's already too late (if you want perfect hearing, and who doesn't?).

yeh i've been thinkin about gettin some too, right ear still ringin from caspa at fwd few wks ago! plus mixin loud is not helpin. all bout the £10 option

also, medically speaking, if you're exposed to constant loud sounds/music for over an hour your inner ear (hearing) cells will die causing permanent problems. if you go to a quieter area for 10 mins every hr that should help (edit: help prevent hearing loss)

dont wear them but if it gets 2 loud and they start to hurt i'll stick a bit of tissue in them usually does the job.....

Will be getting a pair when I persuade myself to get off my arse to do it. Should be soonish.

on 99% of systems (ie the shite ones) they make things sound better because they filter out the distorted trashy treble, and they make it easier to hear people. they often make it easier to DJ for the same reason.

and to the crew talking about wanting to feel the bass pressure or whatever - if your chest is rattling and your trousers are flapping from the bass, sticking something in your ear isn't gonna change that!
