eeeep!
need more booze for the christmas cheer in here!
A good track is a good track, doesn't matter who owns it or when it is released or who plays it.

Blackdown wrote:people want everything now, but it can take months, sometimes years to write, mix and master a good track. why shouldnt the producer or a good dj be able to have this track in advance for a bit if he invested so much time to make or break it?
after all this is a key part of makes them an appealing DJ. would we all be so excited about seeing our favourite DJ if they just played their back catalog from start to finish?
to me this is all about dubplate culture and the point about dubpate culture compared to say, commercial house, is not that dubstep tunes come out late, it that thanks to dubs, you get to hear them early.
ah blackdown. thanks for the ever considerate and articulate response. absolutely agree.
haven't we been here so many times before tho? who are we as listeners and/or consumers to DEMAND that artists release their dubs ay-sap?
surely it is just as enjoyable to hear it in the club - once, twice, three times... retains that special quality. ownership is not the be all and end all of good music is it?

Deamonds, you said you can't name a label owner, producer, anyone who complained about it...
HI THERE. Good to meet ya.
If you are happy with the status quo mate, step off then, this threads not for you. It really makes me wonder why you follow me around and leave negative responses to every thing I say. Like you say I am talking shit. Quite simple BACK THE FUCK OFF OF ME. You think I'm full of shit, scroll past my posts. Very simple. I don't seek out anything you say, nor do I care to hear it at this point. This will be my last response to you... EVER.
Okay Sunshine?

stop "supporting" their music if you're so upset about it.
surely that will teach those lousy jet-setting, dub-hording, super-star producers.
or better yet, just pirate the tunes like every other moaner that feels they're entitled to something for nothing.

You've got the right idea to a point... if you don't like it, don't support it. If you like it and don't like the practices that go into it, use your own moral compass. That is my point. I don't think pirating music is the solution. But I don't think you really meant that part, correct?

there's a lot of misguided rubbish being talked in this thread. Some people just don't understand the culture and the processes ingrained in the scene.
Like it, or don't, but ffs learn to live with it and stop whining.

i seriously aint gonna stop supportin [example] mala [/example], not buy his records or see him dj, just cos he doesnt release all his tunes. get on.
as far as releasing their own music is concerned, a producer
owes you absolutely nothing. pure and simple.
o and before all you high and mighty people on here start taking a pop at the topic starter for their first post being a moan just remember that theres a lot of truth in whats being said.
also i'm not saying every producer should give out any dub to anyone before an official release but just keep in mind that everyone starts low down and you shouldn't write off people who ain't skream, n-type, youngsta etc...
imo the hoarding and the dubplate culture implies a tunes released more for the fandoms money that respect.
look mate im just trying to help spread the great sound, any publicity is good publicity. what about those who don't have the money or access to specific vinyls in other countries? i ain't a hypocrite, i download a vinyl rip that someones been nice enough to take the time to rip and upload then if i like it i buy the vinyl myself and if i don't like it then i don't buy it and delete it from my computer.
Like I run a label...
You run a digital label , which in my opinion is a NON-LABEL and a cheap cop out which a trained monkey could set up.
When you actually take the time to put your money where your mouth is and sort out a proper distro deal and press vinyl and deal with the hassle and time that it takes to keep a release schedule on time then i think you have right to comment on the do's and dont's of how people should/can manage their label
p.s you talk acres of shit

It can take a long time for tunes to hit wax that have been cained by top flight DJ's!!!
But....... That wont stop me buying them, if its a massive tune to start with then its a massive tune Full stop............
Wen tracks like Road Rage hit wax i will buy it coz i've always loved the track and i get the chance to put it in to my sets and mix it how
I want to hear it!!!
Its all good saying they've been cained, but half the time these tunes dont even get to the second drop on radio shows and raves, or you wont hear the intro due to the mix??
Its about buying the track and seeing what
YOU can do with it (if your a DJ)!!!

I agree with this ^^^^
And what is the problem with accepting that different labels have different business strategies?? Some labels rely on tracks doing their rounds on dubplates, and others wont sign those tunes. Different labels, and probably different customers - but I don't see the vinyl labelowners complaining about how much stuff there is digitally available!
It looks like some people in this thread are asking that a tune wont get promoted/advertised before the actual release are in the shops, can't you see how silly that sounds? And why can't your dj-friend have the advantage of being the first one playin' that tune they got straight from their producer-friend?

tune -> aim -> dubplate -> ... -> signed -> mastered -> ... -> tp -> hey this sounds rubbish -> (repeat x4) -> shit our pressing plant shut down -> ... -> ... -> switching distro -> ... -> press -> distro -> shop/chemical/redeye
you could cut the dubplate step out but it wouldn't really help much.

Hey there buddy... VINYL RELEASE:
http://www.dubstepforum.com/viewtopic.php?p=922949
Do me a favor and bump it, while pulling your head out of your ass. It's also not the first label, either. So lets run this down, ran a previous label with Vinyl that I paid to press myself and then personally walked into shops... then there was the Digital label... how is that release doing again?
http://www.digital-tunes.net/bestsellers/dubstep_grime
Not too shabby, considering the other names on that list. So that knocks your shit Digital Only Label theory all to hell. The digital is doing pretty nice and I think the vinyl will do real well, but I have been wrong before, so what do I know?
Obviously nothing, I only run a shit Digital label, with no vinyl Distribution. And we DEFINITELY, DEFINITELY don't have any tunes forthcoming on vinyl or anything...
