like reason and use it but when it gets vst compatable, a way so you don't have to do anolog wiring, more effects and a better overall sound. is the day it will seriously be catching up with logic/cubase

fuck all the software competitions, everyone's comfortable with what they use hence their use of it, you don't need post youtube vids to show what you can do on programs other than your own, everyone knows you can make most stuff on all of them, it's just a case of taking the time to learn whichever piece of software you have. Give it a rest.

it wont ever be a vst host, propellerheads say it time and time again, that if they were going to do it, they would have done it by now

EDIT- thats exactly why the whole rewire concept was brought about

Wow, nice reactions, was just posting a nice vid about what sounds can be achieved with reason 4 solely.

I admit, I was a little off with the title.

Nice screen Widdlemethis, I love that song.

Not trying to be eager to shit on reason or anything, but have they ever given a reason why? Surely it's the one big thing they could implement that would get so many many more people interested in buying the software.
in effect, people that went for a VST compatible version would be buying it to use Reasons synths independently from Reasons environment and have a third party DAW control things like malstrom/subtractor/reddrum etc ....meaning it would become a bunch of handy plug-ins, The concept of Reason as an independent composition environment might become largely ignored...

So if it was usable as a VST...why buy it? you may as well purchase your DAW and buy a bunch of high grade VST's from other programmers...where the programming (audio source code which makes up the sound engine) is far more focused on a single instrument...whereas using Reasons synths which from what i can gather are programmed as such that they don't eat the sort of CPU that a reaktor or Max/Msp synth would use, which makes Reason a more commercial and accessible product. People make great sounds with Reason but i think as a VST it would lose against other more focused softsynths.

i think i can see why they wouldn't want to turn it into VST and have it run independently

That is kind of backwords. You can't technically use it as a VST but you can control it as if it was a VST already. No people want to use VST IN Reason. Reason being the host (not sure why). They have given reasons for that. Basically because Reason is a stand alone all in one application. That is what it is. It is not meant to compete with full featured DAW. One of the things that is great about Reason is that you can self-contain and publish the files. Someone else with reason just needs to load up that one file and it's all there for them exactly the way it was on the original computer. You can't do that on anything else BECAUSE of the plugins. If anything they need to add audio tracks. I wouldn't hold your breath waiting for it though. If you want VST and audio tracks you need to suck it up and learn something else or rewire. If you don't need that shit then great. Personally I need that shit. That is why I no longer use Reason.

ah i see...i misunderstood what it was...i thought people wanted to use it as VST as opposed to loading VST's in it...silly of me.

but yeh...i don't use Reason either..so i'm probably not the best to air an opinion on it...reaktor + Logic ftw :)

no vst support is to keep reason as stable and cpu friendly as possible. but still good enough to create good music with

i dont see how you can hate on reason and listen to dubstep at the same time... i mean dubstep is almost like "reason music" for me. there are plenty of tunes by mystikz, cluekid and others using the drum sounds that come with reason

Let's be honest here, you can make any genre on any sequencer/daw, whatever the people who don't class reason as a daw call it.
