dammit, i left half way through Kode, didn't realise FlyLo was there

El-b absolutely smashed it. heard sarah say he was on early cos he was ill, i was expecting him on later too. Dusk & Blackdown were sick as well, i'm guessing a few new Burial bits were played?

hmm. not sure what you mean can you describe the tunes?
you were on the decks, one record finished and then you waited about 30 seconds before dropping the next record, which sounded like new burial. the track that followed sounded like garage-informed minimal techno, as in something magda or any of the m_nus crew may have made if they were into 2-step. the third was some housey, garage number which sounded as though it could be an old one.

those descriptions may be a bit off, my memory of that part of the night is a little hazy.

whatever those 3 records were, they blew my mind. the burial (?) one especially

am a bit lost, dunno what you mean by the break - i used some of the intro of a Sbtrkt tune, but there wasnt a break in the flow apart from our first tune...

your description sounds much more like our first three tunes though...

i thought i walked in halfway through your set, but maybe it was actually the start. i came in about 10.15ish

set started at 10:15, so that explains it.

1st track - Burial "U Hurt Me (original)" - older unreleased Burial, not new

2nd Kowton "Countryman"

the 3rd track will have to remain nameless for now.

Cheers.

I didn't realise there was another version of U Hurt Me floating about. Maybe it was just me wigging out, but it sounded completely different to the normal album version.

Will have to get on that Kowton record.

those 3 tunes constitute what is possibly the best set opening I have ever heard

'countryman' sounded unbelievably warm

great night but a lot of terrible mixing. but great tune selections which made up for it. fly lo smashed it as expected

The U Hurt Me original pre-dates the album version, it's much warmer than the one on "Burial". it's on this mix.

"Countryman" is currently unreleased but i hear it will come out this year ;)

It definitely sounded more upbeat (by burials standards). Pity he doesn't make/release some more tunes on that tip.

this is what i LOVE about FWD>>, that people will listen to and come for the more interesting or deeper intro tunes as well as the bangers. the night was coherant but musically all over the place and people stayed for it. sickness.

got there early n el-b smashed it, best set of the night imo although i left before fly-lo jumped on. gud night. was well feelin the new dubsteppy bits el-b played as well, hope to hear them again soon.

blackdown i think u played a vip of focus towards the end of ur set, i love that tune, flows too well n has got the elements that made old skool garage great: big!

That was definitely a highlight of their set. Nice to see some Narcocisst being played too!

Kode was wicked too, nice to hear (what I took to be) those Cooly G bits out.

who was the guy DJing for the first 20 mins, while El-b was skinning up and generally getting excited?

he was good anyway.
