Find out the name of the geezers mum, rename yourself that, and add "I fisted" at the beginning of it.
No better way to destroy a mans morale than getting his mum involved. He'll let you have Rusha back in an instant.

The bottom line is here, is that you werent the first to pick that name and you wont be the last. No name is original, and so you have got two options here:
Find out where he lives, or go to see him at one of his gigs, approach him with a joint in hand and offer him a smoke, laugh off the fact that you both have the same dj name and chances are you will get along since you picked the same name.
Or, graffiti mentality wise, prove you a more worthy of the name than he is, do bigger and better things, gather more fame than he does, potentially "beef" him if necessary and then the better man will come out on top.

Unless you have trademarked it, then legaly you can do nothing.
Just ask, show him old flyers, if he has any sense he'll change it, as it'd be in his interest to do so

I just started going by my first name + my DJ name (which is from 1997, got fliers from 1998 with it) since most people in my area were calling me that for years. I think part of the catalyst though was in 2000 or so when "Bushpig" on Super Charged came out and I saw there was a UK DJ with the same DJ name, and then started seeing it on Fabric promos and then found out there was a DJ in Australia with the same name, who was a DMC battle DJ.
Never heard from either of them about my own name, but someone contacted me about playing in Melbourne, but we realized he wanted the Australia DJ and not me. I do have one or two old tunes that show up on Beatport mixed up with Joe Ransom's "Bush Pig" though.

Just on Discogs.com, there's about 50 billion people/bands using the name Autopilot. A few of them making electronica/dance too.
Doesn't particularly bother me.
An anecdote though, when I first started my Sub FM show, I called it "The Deep End" and someone PMed me saying they already had a show with that name and I changed it to avoid confusion...no problem. It can't hurt you to track down the person and ask.

Legally, you cannot copyright a name.
That will be all.
How many DJQs are out there? I know of quite a few and I am sure I dont know them all.
Bastardizations of Ruckus Rukkus Rawkus etc...
Dmitri from....where again? Deelite, New York, Paris?....
Speedy? Theres got to be one per country at least.
DJ Paul - I could throw a party with 12 different DJ Pauls.
You get the picture......
