midi is used to control your audio or sound generators by sending messages/data.

...midi has no sound. Or do you mean you prefer to arrange audio as opposed to triggering audio via midi?...you will end up having to arrange audio or midi.

Working directly with audio in the sequencer as opposed to triggering a machine containing the same audio has it's advantages for my purposes and is more flexible for producing a track that transforms as i make it.
