The guy wants me to ring him tomorrow. I only wanted to enquire its all too intense now lol still only like vaguely thinking about this lol
That is a very good bargain, the power supply seems like it'd output sufficient wattage, be careful about buying used computers though, the power supply does degrade over time, and depending on the brand that can go pretty fast. If it's a Corsair/Seasonic/Antec then I can vouch for them to be pretty durable, I had a Zalman PSU as well but that died within 3 years of use, unfortunately.
Arma 2 is a very CPU intensive game and it will be the biggest factor of performance. The AMD Phenom X4 965 is OK to play Arma 2 with. Here's a benchmarking site that shows how well it performs in Arma 2 at various settings : http://www.dubstepforum.com/posting.php ... &p=2895688
You don't really need much more than 30 FPS for ARMA 2 to be playable, the game is notorious for it's bad optimization, and is still being patched and optimized. The latest beta patch gave me a jump of 20 FPS!, so maybe you'll get a higher FPS on Arma 2 in the future.

And i dont think that phenom u list can do 1600+ memory speed.
The AMD Phenom X4 965 supports up to 2133Mhz, so you're good on that aspect too.

I've been playing this a little as well, it's a lot of fun. The only thing that's tough is that it's still in Alpha stage and bugs will happen, sometimes leaving you to wait at least 30 minutes before you can join a game, due to the huge popularity increase.
It is reported you can play by getting just Arma 2 Free, and only buying the Operation Arrowhead expansion, this could save you some cost. Here's a topic on that : http://kodabar.blogspot.nl/2012/05/how- ... -free.html
There's more cool guides on that blog link too.
My name in-game is Happy, maybe we'll come across eachother sometime!

Sound, I might look into it. According to the site the computers new as well, will ask if individual parts have been reclaimed from other machines though. It just seems cheap. Too cheap...

yea honestly i'd go intel, amd used to be fine and at times better, but you can OC intels just as easy now and get way better performance out of them
GPUs heh i'm in the same boat and iffy on upgrading just yet, my ati radeon hd 5770 has held up nicely for quite some time for me, but it's almost time to upgrade and debating about jumping over to nvidia
RPS just had a nice article on GPUs the other day http://www.rockpapershotgun.com/2012/06 ... cs-update/

Just getting my clarify on now, you dont reckon that machines worth the price tag? Granted it doesnt surprise me that it might have a slightly shitter processor (im never going to overclock anything btw) but the price just seems incredible for what youre getting? All I would really need this pc for is to play dayz atm...and possibly dayz on arma3 ahem

i dunno i always build my own, it seems like a good deal without much markup on the components
they may be able to offer it for that price because that got the mobos/cpus etc in bulk to build em
that being said you could build yourself a nice core machine with say an i5 that won't need any upgrades cept for maybe the gpu in a few years depending on your budget for it for pretty damn cheap
also i'd recommend OCing as it's easy and cheap as hell to do now

I'd say it would be over a year before arma3 and dayz is out so you can always upgrade later. I'd be extremely surprised if it met the release dates. Plus they are saying beta for 2012...
Anyway that price for that system isn't crazy low depending on if he gets surplus or wholesale deals. He could keep the price lower by skimping on power supply and RAM though as a lot of companies do. That's the only thing I'd be concerned with.

Game genuinely scared me just now. Spawned in a night server, the name of the place i spawned was an island off the coast but i ran a minute in each direction and couldn't find any land off the coast. I decided to just estimate and travel north to a deer stand that wasn't too far away. I never found the stand but i ended up running through wooded hills for about 15 mins. Was thinking about re-spawning because i had no clue and thought i ended up too far away from actually towns. But i spotted a roof in the distance. I ran towards it, and at the bottom of this hill, in a basin or crater type thing, was a medium size town. Oh yeah, and about 60 zombies roaming around it! The server only had 300 at this point, but there were hordes of them in this town! I decided to just have a look anyway, i was flapping during the whole thing. My shift-pinky started to ache at one point. After about 10 mins sneaking around the town i decided there was nothing here, and turned back around to find a wall of about 12 zombies blocking where i came. Flapping.
I did mange to find a barn with a crossbow and a few bolts in it though.

I tried that, was too unreliable for some reason. I have major problems with my shift in this game.

I finally bit the bullet last night and bought Combined operations.
I`m currently 7 gb into Arma2 and then Operation Arrowhead this evening.
I`m almost there.
Yay.

Fuck you ISP.
The one month they decide to give me the 10gb over the normal 20 gb they normally give me by mistake.
I have Arma2 but no Operation Arrowhead yet.
I'll have to ask a friend to dump it for me.

I need to find matches, never found them! Have hunting knife + hatchet and obviously can't do a transfusion without another player... where do you find them? Been into two supermarkets, no luck
