I also forgot to mention that I'm working on a PC and my buddy works on a Mac. Would this screw things up as well? His Mac had no problem loading up my PC generated stuff.
Thanks again!

Just an FYI it's a free upgrade from Live 8.x to Live 8.1.3 (newest version)

PC to Mac and Mac to PC won't be a problem. If you update Live and it still doesn't work. Make sure he doesn't have Suite and you have Lite or Standard Live. I've seen people run into that problem before, you won't have all of the instruments necessary for the set.

When I am trying to automate the volume of a particular channel strip is it possible to enter in a value numerically instead of just moving around the little red dot on the automation line?

I don't think so (I hope I am wrong), you can however zoom in like crazy and/or resize the lane

There must be a way, I hate trying to carefully move that little dot to my desired dB level.... it seems so unprofessional

I don'ty see why you would need this really dragging it is simple enough. Try holding CTRL to move the slider slowly

How do I tell how much headroom I have left on my master channel? I can see the little green level bar peak up and not quite reach 0 dB but how do I read this as a numerical value? All I can tell is that I go about 3/4 of the way up the green...

Yeah I know what you mean, its just tiresome to do it this way, especially when that dot starts moving left or right due to my bad aim. Just thought I would ask if anyone knows if there was a way to enter in the numbers

Your gonna need to drag the meter bar up (if it isnt already) Hover over the grey bar just above the level bar and drag it up. Now beside your master channel you will see 2 boxes the top (peak level) is what you want to be looking at

I don't think so; AFAIK it's been a requested feature for ages. But you can hold down cmd (or probably Ctrl on PC) and drag if you want finer control. This works on most parameters, not just automation.
