I'm honestly not that bothered by them taking the senate cause i think this will set them up to look awful in 2016 - and no legislation was going to come out of congress even if the democrats kept the senate. so maybe we'll see some kind of bipartisan bill even if it's a bit on the conservative side, which i would be happy with actually. i doubt obama would sign anything harmful to the country, and i think the republicans could get behind something marginally progressive which would at least be good.

i'm more bothered by all the republican governors. they're the ones that make an actual difference to peoples' lives. plus voter suppression is only possible with republican governors which is the most important issue to america at the moment aside from money in politics.

very disappointed by maryland. even baltimore county went red what the fuck.

illinois too has a republican governor. florida still has that moron rick scott

happy pennsylvania gain a democratic governor though, and i'm happy oregon held onto theirs.

but yeah GOP governors is pretty scary. if Charlie Baker wins here you can kiss any marijuana and buffer zone legislation goodbye. Im interested to see what happens in colorado if the GOP candidate wins

see i dont even think many bipartisan bills will pass. for the past 30 odd years the GOP has been the party of "I don't want that" they dont really stand for anything, just the opposite of anything the Dems try.

"i dont want that" is exactly why theyre even successful at all. its a lot easier to get their base excited by just screaming "watch out _________ is going to destroy america" on fox news and talk radio and watch them foam at the mouth

the senate is actually going to operate in basically the same way it's been going the last 4 years, except this time it'll be the dems filibustering everything and anything that the republicans want to do. that's why they never got rid of the filibuster when they could - they knew a few years down the line, they'll need it too. plus obama will always have the veto
