In all honesty, I think we could use a reset on professional clothing. Antiquated forms of attire, stylistically referencing old class distinctions. Like dress shoes vs trainers. Dress shoes used to represent a higher cost therefore higher class, but now the trainers are likely more expensive. That leaves just a aesthetic preference, which when coupled with lower functionality, really DOES piss me off. Dress shoes are somewhat hobbling, why must I do that to myself?

I've never been comfortable in suit and tie, and doing that everyday while working in an otherwise soul destroying environment is just the cherry on top.

They can. I know of a female attorney in Orange County who was removed from court for wearing a suit with pants (she was pregnant).
