True, depends on the size of the company really. Mine's pretty big, so it's easy to get lost amongst average salaries, etc. so I used it to really hit home how undervalued I was when compared to other people who weren't performing so well.

But you're right, does vary, smaller companies might not take it so well.

It helps if your boss can see the person you're talking about and you point to them.
