"'Natalia's Song'. Rather infamously, it samples a piece of Russian pop schmaltz by Irina Dubtzova (the winner of Star Factory, a sort of Russian X Factor - try youtube for the video of her saying "f*ck Zomby", it's priceless!)"

- from Boomkat

Where can i find this video lol?

Yeah.

He sampled her tune, so she should get paid for it, that's not unreasonable.

Yeah but get paid what though? Can't imagine ltd edition vinyl being much of an earner

Bare in mind:

1. She's Russian
2. She was on the Russian version of X Factor

She may not be aware that Zomby released music independently, and that many sample heavy dance tunes release limited 12"s so to dodge massive clearance issues/costs.

She probably was just played the tune and assumed he was making massive money off her song.

That being said...I hope she got her £20.

Well, if you remember the first time most people heard it was Kode 9 x Burial on Radio 1 and it caused quite a stir (all over the net within hours).

So she's there in Russia hearing her vocals being played on the BBC thinking who the fuck has used that without even asking my permission. Which is fair enough.

Any what if Natalia's Song is going on the album? (I don't know if it is or not) that's not gonna be a ltd. press, should she not get paid for this either?

Lol. Technically, the x factor owns those vocals. Hope they get their cash!

Read what's underneath the you-tube vid. He sampled only 2 words of it in the end.

the amount of words he sampled is utterly irrelevant.

but fair enough if he got someone else to re-vocal it, i'm not even that bothered, it just surprises me that anyone would think she doesn't deserve to be paid for someone sampling her track (one word, two words or otherwise), imagine if it was you singing and you suddenly heard it come blasting out of radio 1. I wouldn't be very impressed and you're damn right i'd want paying.
