#1 and #2 on my SEO todo list is adding meta keywords and descriptions to every page, and building a linkwheel. Like make a bunch of EZine articles and squidoo lenses n junk and have them link back to your page. The domain authority of these sites are high so it gives you good link juice. You have them all link together too but not like A->B and B->A. It's better if you do A->B, B->C, C->A. That way they're all one way backlinks to each other. It's like charging up a big backlink laser and then firing it at your site.
insert jeff dunham Vrom over my head quote.

sounds like it could bring in a lot of traffic though, kinda interested in this.

and noways i really wish it was all still just like Photoshop 7. that was its prime, they started getting into cs and it kinda killed it for me. But hey everything evolves.

on a brighter note, who wants to collab :P

Basically part of how high you rank on google depends on how many links back to your site there are. Google also weighs how important the site that's doing the linking is, anchor text (like what are the words that are linking to you, don't just put 'click here', use keywords) etc. Theoretically, if you don't link back to the site that's linking to you then people will be on your site longer, which is why one way backlinks give you more link juice than reciprocal backlinks. When you have a lot of links coming in but not a lot of links going out, the google spider just gets stuck in your site for longer which is good. Also linking your internal pages together means more link juice so reference your other posts.

The benefit of having a link wheel is they all have one way links to each other in a big circle so the spider stays in your little web( :D ) of pages and they all rank high because of it. They all each have links back to your blog as well which means lots of ranking pages linking to you, boom! better ranking. The reason Ezine articles and such sites are good for this is because while your particular article may not have high authority, the main website does. Google knows that lots of people visit those sites and so a link from one of them is worth more than just a link from another unknown blog or something.

Just by writing an article for ezine or squidoo, etc. At the end you post a link to your blog (and also to the next article you wrote in the link wheel)
Also posting links in the comments of high authority sites. If you're lucky you can get a spot in their links section etc. If you can get them to link to one of your articles ina post, not only will it help your ranking but a lot of people will see it as well and you'll get some organic traffic.

Once I get some more content I might try sending an article to a big site like createdigitalmusic or something. They have high authority and a lot of readers so you'd benefit twofold.

fsho, anything in mind?
and thank ye sir, I do my best!

reminds me I haven't made a post today yet... Need something quality that general people can relate to as well. The Beatles post thingy did well because of that I think. Had some technical stuff in there but at the same time people that dun know wtf I'm talking about are like "aw cool the beatles did some crafty shit"

This is the balance I must strike -q-

I'll ponder what to collab on!

-----

Buzzwords do seem to be spark interest.

Maybe do a series of techniques used on iconic albums :).

I only skype if I am seeing tits.

It might be in our interest to get on the twitter thing too; the amount of big-ish artists i see retweeting blogs what are featuring them is immense, it must get a lot of traffic!

I'm sure all it takes is blogging about a new release, doing a feature on a label or something!

No webcam otherwise I'd show you dudes mah tits. This thread is a pretty decent spot to trade ideas, despite it being relatively public. Anything that needs to be kept hush can go to pms

The twitter thing is a good idea. Just having an artist's name and release info in the title and tags n junk might get you ranked high for searches, but if you could get the artist themselves to link to you, that would be immense. I'm starting to think a lot of it is actually doing proper marketing and not being shy. If you think you've written a good article on something, send it to the person, saying something like "Hey I wrote a review of your newest release, if you want something to reference you can use this link." It's useful for them too because they have a link they can drop that makes them look good. As long as you're polite and don't pester them with irrelevant junk you could build a nice relationship out of it. Likewise for popular sites, if you send them a link of yours it gives them some material to write on. They're usually looking for unique content so getting some stuff from the underground is beneficial for all parties, as long as it's relevant to their readers.

Also I've been putting links in comments here and there if it's relevant to the blog. If someone's talking about writer's block or not being able to come up with blog posts, "hey here's an article I wrote about motivation and creativity, you might find it useful" It doesn't come across as sleazy if it's actually related and doesn't sound like it's automated. Linking to specific articles seems more legit and it helps your pagerank for those specific pages. Remember to use appropriate keywords in your anchor text as well, don't just put check out my blog

I've got an idea... when we write an article on someone, we come in here and ask someone else to mention it to the artist, so it doesn't look spammy. Much more natural approach I'm guessing.

exactly! then if it's a well written article the artist will be forced to retweet it, it's the law.
