CS:GO any good? or another lame cs:source?
Its a little closer to 1.6 in terms of hit boxes. But i don't think die-hards will ever accept it outright. Its basically source meeting 1.6 half way in my opinion. Not worth a big price tag but at a tenner you cant go wrong.
Ns2 just had announced a release date of October. As great as it is I don't think its ready yet personally, lags a little - lots of warping. but considering its independent we should see a decent amount of post release love.

Most of the way through it (I imagine, no fucking idea though DE:HR was looong) and it is so good. I'm surprised how much like the current game it is, it's more a remake than a sequel or whatever it was meant to be.

So far i've came to the conclussion that you should never buy old games for nostalgia's sake. With the exception of nintendo games. I bought Starwars kotor and roller coaster tycoon 2 and neither of them are like what they used to be 8 or so years ago.

For the first time in years I went into a gamestation shop today just to have a look around.
When I was a kid/teen I used to love looking round all the cheap £1-3 xbox/360 games which were say 5 years old, and usually a bit shit. Today I couldn't find them, the cheapest games was Pro Evo 6 at £5...what happened?

Finished Max Payne 3, need more action games people, recommend me something! Preferably something deep, new and big budget plz. PC only, no FPS (unless it's something original or innovative)!
also what is Dear Esther? Looks interesting.

I've heard very good things about Spec Ops:The Line, especially with regards to plot.

Dear Esther is an experimental narrative game, you can download the original mod for half life 2 on moddb, the paid one is just an enhanced version
If you've never played it I'd say pick up Alpha Protocol
RPG wise Game of Thrones RPG has one of the best stories in ages and I'd put it up there with The Witcher 2 for recent great RPGs, the combat is like Dragon Age Origins though
As far as just pure action though, Dark Souls all day, but you need an X Box pad to play since the mouse and keyboard controls suck (also you have to mod it to get proper HD and 60fps, but it already shits all over the console versions when you apply these)

^^ I'm not really into military propaganda games myself, but i still might check it. Cheers.
Anything else? Something along the lines of Max Payne, Metal Gear Solid, Hitman etc. How stealth based is the new Deus Ex?
^ I don't have half life 2.

Ah cool cool, cheers, might check the Alpha Protocol thing out. Also, will a PS-clone controller work for Dark Souls?
Actually i'll just order the xbox wireless controller adapter thing, found one for £6.

I dunno I ended up just ordering a wired 360 pad because it was a headache with my old xbox 1 pad i spliced to usb and a lot of games seem to be using that protocol instead of the standard HID of most pads
here's a preview vid with the hd fix to 1080p and 60fps patch (can't show it on youtube since it caps fps at like 25) http://www.mediafire.com/?lp5pxznc8yu74bk
there's already some texture fixes and stuff too making it look even better

From everything I know, it's the exact opposite of a military propaganda game.
While lead writer Walt Williams has stated that there are many influences, the premise is inspired by Joseph Conrad's novella Heart of Darkness. Multiple critics have observed similarities to Apocalypse Now, a Vietnam War era adaptation of Heart of Darkness, in the game's feel and expression of inglorious war.
