grahamcody wrote:its not technically dubstep but you guys are better at figuring this kinda shit out than anyone i know, how is Trentemoller making these vocal sounding bass synths, especially that "YAIP" sounding one. I'm fairly sure he does most of the synths on his Microkorg (which is incredible considering how sick they sound) so i think its all post-processing. any thoughts? or am i gonna get blasted cuz its not dubstep?
Btw I use Logic for Producing with Massive VST, Albino 3 etc...
Sorry I don't have the magic answer for you.
However, I don't know if you are new to production... but patches like that are not really recreatable. It's just fucking with distortion and other effects. The original oscillated waveforms do not matter so much. Make use of slight modulation while creating the patch, and when it's done, go crazy with the filter cuttof frequency.
One thing I know really works well is use several very detuned waves - so much detuned that it almost sounds like noise. (but you can still hear the notes)

Oh and for midrange basslines... BP filters. Not LP filters.

To 99% of the question here.
Load youtube and check as many Massive vids as you can bare. They will cover the basics for the transformer/dastik/excision style mid range bass sound.

Hey all, I'm new to the forum and I've been dying to know how zomby made the lead sounds on his one foot ahead of the other ep. The leads sound sort of 8 bit, but very smooth. here's an example
I love all the sounds but especially like the one that comes in around 1:14... any help is much appreciated
Seriously... There's a sticky in the production forum made especially for you!
Thank me for being so kind.

-Triangle wave.
-Turn attack, hold and release values all the way down.
Simple.

@Mossmade
I'll give you some instructions for Albino3. Can someone else could translate the filter type into something used by all VSTs.
The bass from the second vid.
-Single OSC, square wave form. Put an octave down.
-Envelope no attack, short release, decay, sustain and release all at max.
-Filer envelope, about 0.6 attack, 0.175 decay, 0.2 sustain,
-Filter type, Cream 1, 24, LP
-Cutoff about 500, no res, track about 75, env1 about 0.6,
-Link an LFO to the cutoff, about -0.2

Sure it's not "Scream" filter, because I know NI Massive has a scream filter, it's like a distorted comb filter sounding
