@Nylle I'd say use less reverb on everything in the beginning but thats just my opinion, its hard to understand that sample, that wobble line is really chill but it sounds really tinny, seems like the drops could use some variety it seems like its just the same two notes over and over with the lfo rate changing every now and then. Overall the whole song is really chill just a bit repetitive, that lost drop is cool. I'm not really a fan of the overly reverb soaked kinda music but its good nonetheless

@othites11 That intros weird man, the drums are cool, everything is way too loud theres no dynamics at all. Its okay for a first track but it doesn't really flow, when the wobble comes in thats all you can hear, the drums are gone, you need hats. Lower the level of everything especially the wobble because the entire track sounds like its just clipping. You do have some good ideas in there for sure keep it up, try and compare it to songs by real artists to see how it lines up.

@Luca1 First Track: Its a little hard to follow, I'd say layer your snare because theres no punch with the amount of reverb you put on your drumset. That drop is sick, you have a lot of really cool ideas in here, holy shit those synths are sick. I could see this being VERY good with some more work. Maybe lower the levels of everything because everything gets jumbled when the big synths the wobble and everything is playing at once you've gotta set the levels right. I think the song itself is really cool just some production stuff gets in the way and the whole mix sounds a bit muddy, because the drums really don't have much punch to them at all, I would definitely say take off a lot of the reverb and reset the levels and then you'll be solid on this one

Second Track: That first drop is cool, it sounds pretty primitive (in a good way) how everything just drops out then when everything comes back in thats cool. I'd say change up the chord progression a bit, That second really big drop is really cool. Im getting pretty sick of those synths in the background by now, once again im not really a fan of stuff thats just soaked in reverb though

I need help with this second one, it sounds really hollow and annoying to me, I tried to eq out some of the highs and higher mids and it sounded worse so i added some and it also sounded worse, I need some serious help with this one

@Grok: Intro is a sample with strings behind it. I dunno how to answer the mix question, as I really just spend hours on sound design and listen really closely, if a sound I want to use isn't clear or summing I always go back to sound design no matter how much I like the sound as is, and then everything else is just good sounding samples and semi decent mixing, I wish I could be more helpful.

i feel like there should be a midrange synth in this with some occasional highs. i fucking love the way you structured this tho. this is some serious dark business. vocal samples are perfect. second drop with that second bass is perfect. at 2:05ish. amazing. just noticed that im not very fond of that snare. could just be the alcohol

Ha! Its funny how blindingly obvious something becomes when someone points it out
In the first track there is only reverb on the snare but you are right, its definitely killing the punch on it, it is layered and sounds cool on its own but with the reverb on there its fucked it up.
Also the hi-hats sound way too loud to me (and cheap) all of a sudden.
The song itself is kinda sposed to be a bit mixed up.
When the big synth comes in, it sposed to bounce between the wobble riff and the big synth, they sort of duck and cover each other, but the hi-hats are confusing everything up.

And the second track, that wobble gets on my nerves after a short while so I think I'll take your advice and chop it up a bit.

Thanks for taking the time man, good advice I'm definitely doing a remix with your words in mind, I'll let you know how it goes..

YOUR TRACKS:
With your first track, to me the samples don't really fit together, I know the idea your after but they don't seem to glue together.
But around 3.05 I love that bit, stroke of genius, very very cool, sounds straight off a label

With the second track the drop at the start is quieter than the intro. Around 1.40 is pretty cool, I like that style and it all fits nicely, cool samples.
Nice range of riffs in this one too.

In general its a really crystal clear sound but it doesn't really grab me by the nuts and throw me around, I kinda feel like a spectator..
I think the synths could do with some layers and definitely more bass its very mid rangey.

All in all I think its much better produced than mine and a lot of others out there, and I get the impression you know what your after and I can't really give you any advice on how to improve anything, just my opinion really

all the ideas are cool, i'd say it needs another section because it seems like its just that synth line, wobble, or both playing at the same time and it gets a bit repetitive, maybe a just another instrument in there sometimes i don't know it needs something though. Im loving all the little stops and cool tiny drops in there though. It could maybe just use some samples or something to vary it up a bit but i could totally see if this is something where you wouldn't want samples. Just change it up a bit but other than that i'd say this ones almost done. It's really chill and relaxed.



as for mine, does anyone wanna elaborate on which basses sound the most tinny and where I could put the synths to fill out the sound a bit?

@Dissent: pretty punchy bass. really like the breakdown where the beat changes up. maybe mix up the rate on the lfo abit to get your basses moving some more.

@sirminius: some really cool sounds in there. I reckon something like a double time or 4/4 beat could get that really vibing.

@nylle: sounds good the drop hits hard. not sure what to say as far as advice goes I'm not great at this darker stuff but maybe some more layer/samples in there.

oooh this has an old trance feel to it. i dont think the bass is heavy enough...
you could probably do a stereo/whitenoise sweep before the drop and probably have a bit more of a drop too i think. i really like the last few seconds of it, keep going with that .cool ideas in all nice wip

my feedback for u: right off the bat, to me it sounds like your using a lot of preset synths. true? honestly i'd scrap those and build your own if u are using presets . i like that one with the lfo on it though that's tight. to me the main bass synth there is a little too tinny. try cutting off everything above 200hz on that just see how it sounds. i like your drop but it's missing a bit of punch. the snare starts to lose it's punch, i think you need to remix that part and eq some frequencies out to make the snare cut through. try adding a crash on beat one, or some white noise with the cutoff slowly going down to zero to add some color at the begginig of the drop. just some suggestions, i like the overall dirty vibe of the song though, and the mix sounds pretty clear on my headphones. don't have my monitors with me right now unfortunatley

yeah im having a hard time finding some meaty/punchy drums that are subtle enough for my tracks

yeah i really like the spaciness of the first minute, i'd leave the sub bass alone for that, but after about a minute try bringing in a new layer that's more mid range....do u have massive? i'm an es2 guy but i love some of the sounds u can get with massive. even just a "reese" style bass would work in there i think. the thing with a sub bass like that is that it almost doesn't have a note or a tone, it's just 40hz of bass, which is dope, but when u want an actual melodic line on the bass it's time to add some mid range. also some white noise always helps fill out the sound. i love the dub vibe tho. definitely try to put some kind of form to the song.

im only using reason but i could probably come up with a good reese in one of these synths too.

@nylle: yea agree about the kick in that tune. maybe cut some of the low end off it if youre gona stick with that sample. and some more variation in the drum pattern could be cool cos the bit around 1:08 sounds refreshing.

and yeh fixed up the sub a little and added some fx before the drop as you suggested. I think my cans are bass heavy tho so might need to bring the bass out even more on the drop? also most likely gona reword the intro tomorrow as I dont think its relevant enough to the main drop.

the wobble that comes in at 0:26 is a little muddy. and I think the drums are a little too quiet in comparison. I think making that 'wobble' crisper by boosting some of the higher frequencies and maybe cutting the sub a little will give it more impact. try referencing jakwob - fire to see what I mean. sounding good on the whole tho.
