The Hurt Locker is the bomb disposal one yeah? i knew a guy who was bomb disposal for the british forces, 2 or 3 tours of iraq and one of afghan, he had a MASSIVE rage against that film.

Ha I can imagine anyone who knows anything about bomb disposal would....seems to have quite a bit of an artistic license. Good still

i kind of enjoyed Hurt Locker, didn't think it was anywhere near as good as the hype suggested

was so gung ho to me, when i was lead to believe it was a bit more cerebral... and it just wasn't

i try not to listen to the hype for films because chances are they won't live up to it.
i got fooled into thinking the dark night and inception were going to be amazing but imo they are just average.

Hurt Locker was ok but wasn't worthy of best picture imo, I think the anti-military theme bumped it up into that. Not a bad film but usually best picture winners have amazing performances, acting/dialogue was pretty average to drive the story.

Yeah, I'm into old spaghetti westerns too. Still need to watch the Coen Bros remake of True Grit though.

it wasn't anti-military was it though, what was different about was that it wasn't pro or anti, it was about one man's addiction to adrenaline

Not as good as the classic for sure, but the actor that plays him (same guy from Big Lembowski?) is pretty badass. Nothing better than good ol' John Wayne and Clint Eastwood movies though haha. Iv'e been looking for old Eastwood samples lately, no real luck though.

I'm gonna sound like a tnuc here but the voice over really pissed me off because I don't believe you should have a voice over unless

A/ It serves the plot, ie the voiceover is the sound of someone in the world of the film, being interviewed

B/ You are Terrence Malick

Every time I heard the voiceover it reminded me that I am watching a trashy hollywood film (I know that it didn't aspire to be anything more than that but still)

I guess I just like to be immersed in the plot and not be reminded that I am watching a film

also Parson's thought it was great which is usually an indication of a bad film, going by his other recommendation which have been dire (I know Parsons, i just don't get it, I'm stuck in the matrix etc)
