http://www.tripadvisor.com/ShowUserRevi ... erlin.htmlThis review is for the Berghain's gay area, Lab.Oratory.
The entrance is around the left-side of Berghain. The doorman reminds you it's a club for gay males (unless you are Lady GaGa, who visited in 2010) with a dress policy of fetish and underwear.
This is a fantastic sex club. Decor and atmosphere are just phenomenal. Dark, industrial and music is thumping deep house and techno.
You will strip and leave your clothes in a sack with a number. The number will be marked on your arm with a pen and when you order drinks at the bar there will be a tab with your number. Extremely good value for both entrance fee and drinks.
Condoms run out of the dispensers early and are replaced sporadically so it's advised to bring your own (just slip them in your boots).
Be prepared to see a lot of nudity and high-risk activity.
Unless you are heavily into leather, beards, drugs, and pretentious people, skip this place.
After standing in line for one hour i was turned away at entrance by a couple of rude and arrogant entrabce guards that reminded me of how it must have been to stand in line 70 years ago... Germans certainly have something with lines and selection...
Anyway, there are too many other cool places in Berlin, so dont waste your time at Berghain!

If I would rate only the experience, I would maybe give Berghain more than 1 star. Saying this I have to explain that I think that even bad experiences enrich your horizon and your life.
Yes, it was a shocking and controversial experience.
The club is in the Eastern part of Berlin and not easy to find if it is your first time in the city. From outside the club looked like an old and deserted warehouse/factory. There was a giant queue. Me and my boyfriend watched the bouncers sending away a lot of people without giving any reason. We have been lucky enough to get in there. We were searched by the security and were told that the use of cameras was prohibited. As we asked the ticket lady how much the entry was she replied very rude.
It is more than an understatement if I would describe the club as dark. We used the toilets downstairs and I have to say I was afraid of doing that. The white tiles in the room reminded me to a butcher room, which could be from a scene in a horror movie, like Saw. The music was terrible. We knew it would be techno music, but this was hardcore.
Whilst we walked around the club we were asked twice if we had drugs. We also noticed the dark corners throughout the club. Without going into much more details, everyone can imagine how this places would be used later in the night.
A short remark to the artwork within the club - I was neither impressed to see a gigantic photograph of an anus nor a penis version of the human centipede.
Me and my boyfriend dared to take a photo of us. It took a member of staff two seconds before we were shouted at. We were forced to delete the photo from the phone and we were threadend to be removed from the club. Considering that we are all adults, I don't think this is an acceptable behaviour.
As I said it was indeed an experience. And I'm glad that I have done it. After my holiday in Berlin I had plenty to tell my friends. But looking at Berghain all of that was actually negative. I'm wondering how this used to be the best club in the world. In my eyes the highlight of this night was the kebab at the end.
wowI am going to give you a totally accurate review of Berghain and I will tell you what I am like as well... I am 26 female and lived in London for nearly 4 years, I have done Ibiza twice and I like to go clubbing to a lot of the underground nights in London, am a regular on resident advisor, but have found recently London nights have become over croweded with the Essex wannabe poser and people who aren't really there for the music, I only go for my favourite djs and not for posing or pulling which unfortunately it is like now. Now that is what I am like so you can relate this review to me if you are a simliar person.
