Bout to head to class but I'll be back to edit for some reviews! Take a listen if you'd like. Nero-esque Bro-step type dub.

@ehbrums1 - no need to be a dick, how do you know he didnt post any feedback in the 100+ pages of this thread? You searched them all yourself or something?
Ocelot, the breaks are cool but yah, that synth totally doesnt fit. It could if you put loads of FX on it or maybe just used samples instead. Making a synth sound good and not cheesy is an art

@jetpack theif girl , heavy beat dude and thanks for ur feedback. I would add more bass chops in there and even some more sporadic samples, like that voice you got in there already. Some light delay on your hats might sound good too.. just a thought

@renagadex - not bad at all. you need some general equing though, the synth pad is totally lost in there and your lead needs to let the other elements breath more IMO

@virus, your drum pattern isnt shuffling at all.. listen to some dub tracks and notice how the syncopation is going with triplets. Your beat is 4 on the floor ish. The reason i didnt comment before is im just not feeling it at all

What synth are you guys referring to? The one at the last bit that sounds kind of like a kazoo?

Crititism prease.
1) read the rules
2) what the fuck is that saw pad doing in there
I've read them, I fail to see a rule I've broken.

^Oh you're talking about the OP's post in this thread.
I've been producing for like two months. I'm not sure how constructive my criticism would be.

Everyone could say that and then we would just have a thread full of people asking for criticism but receiving none back. What would be the point of that? No one's an expert or else they wouldn't be posting in this thread!
@renegadex: Pretty solid production. Really like the little reverbed build at .56 Not really my thing but i can appreciate the good production and the structure of the song all seems good so far. Nice track.
@Jetpack: Haha i recognise that little high pitched pad sound you have going at parts. Its a preset on something right? I'm sure i used it on something a while back

Not sure if its quite sitting right how you have used it but i definitely think you're on the right lines of having something higher to contrast the low end of the song.
I like the wobble you have used it reminds me of some more old school stuff. Change up that cymbal you have at the start of every four bars a bit each time. Maybe add a delay one time round or something. Gets a bit predictable after a while. Needs a definite change up/change of pace soon in the track.
@Ocelots revolver: All good up untill .52 - i agree with ehbrums that pad does nothing for the song. If you're going to keep it you should automate the cutoff on it or something. Just needs some better movement.
@chemikalrecipe: Might just be my headphones but the sub seems a little loud. I like the introduction of vocals in the break. Drums just don't cut through enough for me, feels like the snare and kick should have more presence.
okay, heres my newest WIP
its not dubstep, more housey, but please dont skip (a lot of people seem to!)
Any criticisms/feedback...just let me know if it sounds like its working to you, and if i should carry on along these lines.

Replying @BaasDNB - Everything is actually EQ'd... I can hear the pads fine throughout the entire song, both on my monitors and my headphones, and in my car? I was actually pretty proud of my mixdown overall. Thanks for the feedback, though.
Going backwards, sorry.
@stranger_sounds - Yours isn't really my thing either, but I enjoyed the production as well. Sounds very dynamic. Kick might be a touch loud. The little cowbell thing sounds cool, because it sorta pokes in and it sounds like it's really far back in the space, and it just sort of catches your ear every now and then. Solid flow.
@jetpack - Very minimalist, which isn't really my thing, so I tried to focus on mixdown, etc. Feel like the drums could be spread out a bit. I hear some panning going on every now and then, but I feel like the key elements are 100% mono.
@chemikalrecipe - I like the sample a lot -- it reminds me of Cowboy Bebop for some reason? The square lead sort of feels out of place. I would stick with the subby basslines and the cool sample, and perhaps some more variation on the drums. Drums need some serious mixing -- caught myself wondering where the kick or the snare was at. Don't really like the switchup at 2:00. Vocal feels out of place. I also feel like you're using a huge subby kick sample. I get a different vibe from this song. Perhaps a mellowed out kick, but definitely a separate sub line that grooves like it does in the beginning, perhaps mimicking a bass guitar. I'd stick to that sample in the beginning, add perhaps some choral sounding instruments. This is all entirely my opinion, but that's just the vibe i got from it.
@BaasDNB - Not entirely my thing, but I definitely enjoy the first more. Sounds very deep.
@VirusTI - Pretty good, just needs a bit of flavor. All the basses just sound like they could use a few more voices, some overdrive/distortion, and some more processing. The structure of the drops is good though -- LFO's and what not.

I might just abandon this Enter The Void sample, there's just a silly amount of background noise from basically every possible frequency it seems like. I have another that might fit better, maybe.
It's basically impossible to get rid of though. What do you guys think?

@phalanx - sounds sloppy and horrible. put some effort into making shit sound good before you ask ppl to review it ..

@rayman612
Love the intro, love the vocals love pretty much everything except the snare if it had some reverb on it then it would be spot on for me. Drums all work well everything sounds clean I'm very impressed.
@Phalanx
Not quite sure what to say, bit too bare bones the mid bass needs a bit of a low end cut add some more elements then post it!
@Stranger_sounds
Feeling this!!!! love the vocal shots. sub is a bit heavy though on my side might be my poo speakers though! love all the percussion and top end everything works well, synths have that slightly future garagey/house vibe going on well. overall very impressed! Gonna be following!
My current project any feedback appreciated!

Mid bass? You mean the stab thing or something different?

@stranger_sounds Nice man, I love the glitchiness, and it has a nice groove. And i'm not particulary a fan of house in general so this is saying a lot. Really all i'd do if I were you is just add little more details and some fx, just sweeps and stuff. Other than that it's dope.
@Phalanx Too repetitive, and i'd abandon those vocal samples entirely and find something else to build an intro/buildup around to be honest. Bit too minimal. Spice up the drum patterns get different kinds of hits in there.
@jetpack Nice and dirty, I like dungeony bass like that. That's a nice snare as well. I would layer some pads over the bassline, and maybe try to fit an arp or some kind of lead in there, you're probably going for a more minimal style track but that's just what I would do personally.
Soundcloud
So this is a rough starting point/basis for this drumstep track idea I had last night, spent an hour or so coming together with sounds that I thought fit the tone that the sample sets. Was going for a dark, ominous feel. If you've ever played the arma 2 mod Day Z you'll know what emotion i'm trying to portray.. I know its fairly repetitive at this point, but I've got plenty to expand on I think. Just wondering what other elements to incorporate, I know it doesn't have a sub bass line, haven't added it yet. I might layer some formant oscs or something with the bass for some parts and resample and to create more variation. For the most part the drums are just placeholders for now. Haven't put any work into the mix really yet.

@Dankstep - Good starting point I think. Next step i.m.o: leads. Brighten up your leads, add more leads, layer synths. Add some movement to the track, add some stereo width. Add some more hats perhaps, that one hat kind of gets annoying, and it's a bit loud. Pan them around. Widen things up. The main tone and vibe feels good, and you're definitely portraying what I think you're meaning to.
