I'll take Mystic Stylez over Run-DMC any day of the week, but yeah saying Three 6 is top five is a bit of a stretch.

i reckon black hippy are definitively behind my 2 favorite hip-hop explosives this year. kendrick on cartoon & cereal and ab-soul on terrorist threats. between this & all the wonderful production going on at 60-100 bpm, i'm in a very happy place with hip-hop at he moment.

It doesn't feel weird telling people I'm a hiphop fan at the moment... for a few years there it always led to odd looks, but the scene's as productive as I can remember it in years right now. New releases making me grin on a daily basis and Black Hippy are msot certainly leading the charge.

The Roots - on the fringe of being up there

A Tribe Called Quest - they have 3 (imo only 2) good albums. peoples instinctive... is just too lame; its like fresh prince shit. the late 80's/early 90's were a weird time.

De La Soul - same as above

Little Brother - they have one amazing album and a bunch of filler after that. i dont even wanna hear them after 9th wonder left

Boot Camp Clik - i really only liked black moon and smif-n-wessun. heltah skeltah just wasn't that good then; it took time for sean p to evolve to where he is now.

MOP - lol

Organized Konfusion - meh

NWA - they had four awesome songs on an album. dont even bring up the second album, its shit and you know it. a lot of people seem to forget how Ice-T was really the guy who took a lot of the heat from the media (and was the first guy to have the parental advisory sticker) back in those days too.

Three 6 Mafia has longevity, every album from every era sounds fresh, and while some cuts are pretty bad, the amount of good material they've put out (including solo careers/side projects/mixtapes) out weighs the bad by far. I'm sorry but you can't be shit, and put out the consistency they have, especially since DJ Paul did like 90% of the production up until recently
