I think someone should hunt Burial down for a recent interview, it's been a long time, just to know what thoughts he has now. Or I would be happy to hear his voice in the radio or something.

mostly an entertaining read! He lost me (unless you are Adam Harper ) when he drew comparisons with Lynch and I deliberately stopped reading a bit later when dissections of specific tracks began to appear. I don't want to know that sort of stuff personally. It's like a spoiler and detracts from the magic of the track, or rather, the personal universe I have created around them or associate the tracks with myself. I applaud the analytic skill that undoubtedly went into that section (I vaguely skimmed through it), but I don't want to spoil/cloud my own mind you see. I want to keep some of the magic!

I also regret now knowing where some of these samples come from. I avoided looking at some just in time (others I already knew from watching / playing the games myself). I hope I'll forget the one I didn't know as I don't want to associate that movie with the particular track in question.

A very good write up indeed though. I liked the comparisons with Whistler, one of my favourite graphic artists.

i dont think analysis is the problem, but the competitive comparison like "this is EP is way better than that EP, but not as good as that EP" that shit is gay. in my opinion. nothing wrong with thinking about what goes into music, but the competitive part is where you lose me
