@hubb it was a bit tongue in cheek but you don't think the regional powers should solve this problem? and yeah Saudi is Sunni and Iran is Shia and they're both sort of the leading Sunni and Shia counties in the region. Would do a world of good for the Middle East in general if they worked together on something, as that's pretty much the root of all these problems (that in addition to the evil George bushes of course). though obviously it wouldn't happen right now.

if that's true then it's probably because they want ISIS to keep fighting the PKK so they don't have to lol

and was supposed to be playing a party in a week, but some family down the street longed them out hard and they cancelled it and they still emailled the council and my mates got this from the 'council community liason officer'

'Dear Students

The University has been informed by Bristol City Council that you are intending to hold a party on the 14th of March. It has been reported that 150 tickets have been sold and there will be alcohol and music.

To hold an event such as this you require a Temporary Events Notice link below - and this is being investigated by an officer of the City Council.'

^ That.

But I think there's another reason. If it had been world war 2 or something, fine, but I dont think every country has the 'necessary' training that relates to anti-terror and stuff like that.

There might be a hierarchical structure where probably Americans go first and then it's a question who else has authority in a giving situation, if any.
There might not even be any form of autonomy apart from when being directly attacked. As it was the case most of the time in Afganistan ( I think).

I'm not certain, just saying''

It's a long read but this article goes pretty in depth in regards to what ISIS is really doing and the nature of their project. Incredibly interesting.

I really don't like that article.

It fails to not look like a way of trying to paint these new super boogeymen 'muslims' as just even less progressive than the group of muslims that we as the developed group in a shared society, have already realized we can't continue calling non-progressive.

How can a new group be more dangerous if they are less educated?

They can't.

Unless!, - we apply some new definition of moral or incentives relating to their group... and that is asking a bit much, when the old type already were ready to explode themselves isn't it?.

So it's a newer system of belief that is just worse........now.
Maybe ofcourse.

Idk exactly what you're getting at, but I thought it was pretty nuanced and seemed somewhat non-biased when it came to ISIS internal structure and goals. There was a bit of editorialising in regards to how we can combat them, but that's to be expected imo. I thought it was cool to gain some insight into their organisation, and imo the first thing we need to if we want to handle them in any way is to understand them and not just write them off as super boogeymen, as you say. I'm not saying it's the definitive source in ISIS knowledge but it helps paint a broader picture. If we go into another war with the mentality that it's us vs them, good vs evil and they're just some super evil cartoon villains I guarantee things will be even shittier.
