Because all of the work is someone's labor of love....and because, for some, being an exhibitionist in this regard can be a harrowing and nerve-wracking venture, I think we all should be respectful towards each other and treat each other with appreciation and kindness considering that we are baring our deepest souls by placing our work up for public review.
Like the adage insists, you catch more flies with honey than vinegar. I wanted to personally thank every artist who has allowed us into their hearts and minds to appreciate the process within. Art is not about who is better than whom. Art is about our myriad experiences expressed through the votive holders of our lives. And they, the art and the artist, deserve our respect and appreciation for the windows they grant us to the world. This is not a pissing contest or an avenue to achieve vain glory. This is one of the most beautiful ways we can ameliorate our differences and come together as humans to admire our world.
So lets keep it dignified, shall we?
anyone with half a brain would know that. But thats just me.
I can dish out, but I can take it too. Art is solely ones views, and ones medium to share their views. Theres absolutely no such thing as good art, or bad art. There is such a thing as being great with a certain process, such as some photographers manage to bring out the life in the subject they are shooting, or some painters manages to blend their colors really well. The only thing thats real, are the processes in to which, you make something. Aside from that, its nothing but an OPINION.
People need to stop getting butt-hurt over nothing. If you're going to post your work, expect criticism. Most of the work in this thread is pretty gd holy. Some of it has inspired me with my own work, and so on. Hell, one of the pieces in this thread, is actually my background on my computer.
But thats just me.

nah, see...you're not going to talk to me like one of these other chicks, k? i give you respect and you should give it back. i'm not a child and don't deserve condescension. save that shit for someone else.
as for criticism, you can give constructive criticism in a manner that respects the artists vulnerability and appreciates what it takes to expose that much of yourself in a trusting atmosphere. and i think with something as subjective as art, perhaps criticism could be modified while still getting the point across. you have noted how we all have opinions. then perhaps instead of vocalizing your subjective opinion, you could take it as the difference between your work and someone else's and not instruct them on how to make their art more to your liking. connotation of text is key since we don't all know each other and we don't know our personal lexicons and facial ticks. so diplomacy, especially in something as subjective but equally personal, is of the utmost in importance, as well as just respect for the process.
think what you like about my opinion but you'd do well to note i was not the only one who thought your format left a little to be desired. perhaps the number of recoil should be more of an indication of conduct than individual pride and affirmation. this thread should be kept positive. you don't always have to be biting to be remembered. sometimes sweetness is truly the best method for leaving an indelible mark. there are people here from lots of places, real hard cities and suburban towns, and no matter what, we leave it at the door to come in here and just chill and appreciate. there is no need for negativity in this thread. there are plenty of threads already devoted to that.
