World Wrestling Entertainment owner Vince McMahon has been linked with a shock move to take full ownership of Premier League side Newcastle United in what would be one of the biggest shocks to world football ever seen.
Please.

An article on some of the players almost signed by Midlands clubs.

http://www.birminghammail.co.uk/sport/f ... ao-6722013
Roberto Carlos, one of the greatest left backs of all-time, recently revealed that he almost signed for Birmingham City when Barry Fry was in charge back in 1995.
Alex McLeish famously missed out on the world’s most expensive player Gareth Bale in the 2008/09 season when he tried to sign him on loan from Tottenham.

The Welsh wizard was struggling at Spurs and the only reason boss Harry Redknapp refused to let him leave was because of a spate of injuries in the squad.
Wolves came to fully embrace the term ‘what could have been’ back in 1981.

Boss John Barnwell tried to sign young French midfielder Michel Platini and Poland’s rising star Zbigniew Boniek.

Sadly, Wolves’ ambitious plans were ended by circumstances beyond their control. Saint-Etienne’s Platini suffered an ankle injury just as Wolves prepared to finalise the deal, while the outbreak of Martial Law in Poland prevented Widzew Lodz’s attacking midfielder Boniek from leaving the country.
Par.
In 2008, Villa manager Martin O’Neill was offered a little-known Colombian prospect by the name of Radamel Falcao for a fee reportedly around £5M, but he chose to sign Wigan Athletic’s Emile Heskey instead.

He made the right choice going with the Chuck Norris of football :Q:

Chuck Norris would probably have a better goals to games ratio.

It's always a laugh seeing what players some clubs turned down.
But there's stories like that in every single club in the world.
Like Essien and Modric being turned down by a danish club and two norwegian clubs on account of physique and potential respectively.

Arsenal has had a bunch of really amazing players fall through, like Baggio, Zlatan and Ronaldinho.

Wenger turned down the chance to buy Ronaldo as well

Zlatan and Ronaldinho?? Where have you read that?

Another one that I'm surprised didn't make that article was a scout who went onto be our head scout recommending a 19 year old striker from Le Mans by the name of Didier Drogba to Birmingham and we turned down the opportunity.

Another one was newspapers reporting that Birmingham, Bolton and Wolves were bidding on Ronaldinho from PSG in 2002. Then the world cup happened...

All time classic was Blackburn's board turning down a young Zinedine Zidane because they had a young midfielder with potential, Garry Flitcroft.

No that's not true, it was Frank Arnesen (former psv and chelsea headscout) that invited Barcelona to come check out his daughters new boyfriend at psv. Same guy who discovered Ronaldinho, Juninho and a load of others while scouting at psv.

Unless ofcourse you mean Cristiano, my bad!
Zlatan and Ronaldinho?? Where have you read that?
Maybe it was in Zlatans book, can't really pinpoint where tbh. .
