But yeah I get that, it was actually refering to that 'discussion'; there's just a very concrete truth in the way pr takes over from having a message or a defined style within genre music - like it's just so easy to fill the box up with other bits than the music, but if you can point those out (and we have to because we make music and have to weigh all the bits and decide on their relevance) - you get learnededed and I believe that can be coaxed into the thing that is put out, ie the music if they tried.. but they hardly ever do that.

Well, nobody gets *that* big by just being good, but she's a fucking monster right now.
This was one of the best pop tunes in ages.

Not a big fan of Beyonce's voice, I always find myself thinking the tune would be better if Rihanna sang it. In fact, don't you think recently that her accent has become more and more similar to Rihanna's?

I'm with hubb on Rihanna... passable voice at best.
Beyonce occasionally gives me the proper feels... though she definitely falls into the Whitney-style vocal gymnastics trap far too often.

I like her a lot tbh. But I'd be a fan with very few changes. Like lose the outright tackyness of doing a duet about a cell phone with lady gaga and stuff like that.

she is definitely looking to rihanna for inspiration
I dont get how people dont percieve rihannas weirdly appropriated celtic folk twang as annoying

video phone is true banger status though, actually good pop music. the lyrics are obviously shite but the beat is semi nuts as far as trap beats go

I heard that Taylor Swift Shake It Off song for the first time about 3 days ago and I've been humming the chorus ever since. It's pop-by-numbers, but they're very good numbers.
