@npcompl33t: Not a bad idea. That little arp type thing that comes in later on sounds a bit cheesey. All in all it needs a bit of tidying up b/c right now it sounds a bit messy and muddy. That's all I can really think of at the moment.

@ballin: First thing is that white noise is really fatiguing on the ears. You need to tone down some of that really high top end. Also the bass and mids really drown out the drums when they're playing. Bring them out a lot more. Use more variation in your cymbals. All I can hear is this obnoxiously high ride cymbal. I'd take out that "bass" at the drop as it has nothing to do with the lyrics and vox that go on throughout the rest of the song. The melody itself isn't bad, but it's also not awe inspiring. I'd focus on toning down those highs and bringing out the drums.

@acidrat: It sounds like you were going for a chaotic sound and it really just sounds disjointed and random. I like the drums. I like a lot of the sounds but that droning pad in the background is taking up a lot of breathing room for everything else. And then you just sort of go into the ending which sounds like a completely different song. In all honesty I would turn that last little bit and use it in a different song.

Anyways, here's mine. It's slowed down at about 106, I'm probably gunna speed it up a bit. Anyways it doesn't have an ending yet but I'd like to get peoples' thoughts on it thus far.

Ncompl33t: I think your hi hat is a little too forward in the mix, I think trap is pretty primarily focused on the snares. Cool remix though

Kongret: Haha totally not my style of music but you do it pretty well. Although I think you could use a supersaw or something to break apart those bass riffs. Ya know like something to switch it up a bit in terms of the melody/timber. Great guitars too

Cmgoodman1226: I actually like the tempo where it’s at. You don’t hear much stuff like this at this speed. Really digging this vibe actually, nice samples. If dilla grew up in Barcelona, is what it sounds like. Just needs more variation and you got a nice tune.

Here is my hip hop/trap/soul WIP:

@cmgoodman1226 digging the percs, the overall flow of the track and the vocals are crispy

@kongret amazing intro, the synth design was great. I like the quality of the vocals before the drop safe!

@mthrfnk I like the intro and the lead is sweet. very full sounds and a nice drum flow. Drop was gritty...nice stuff

Only been producing for a month this is raw with no eq's or compression just sort of structured out..

@cmgoodman1226: i dont like the hats, sound a bit piercing... dont know anything else to say, quite good production.

@mtl6: nice drums and this subtle little vocal is perfect. overall sounds like a very solid production. the melody itself and melodys rhythm sound completely uninteresting. twist it, chop it, do something with it.

@CYRHEN: sounds very unbalanced and bad from any perspective... mixing, arrangement, sounddesign, composition and so forth. for one month this is quite agreeable and good, you show interesting ideas you can work on. due to the raw mix and the hilariously crazy sounds every newbie to production comes along with i still think this is more interesting than ur common wobble-drop-type dubstep, which i assume u want to create(?).

a little draft i've made, i don't know yet wether i want to finish it :)

Cm Goodman: I really like this, I'm a sucker for tracks like it, but you need to vary things up a lot, add some incidental percussion sounds. It also needs reverb on the synth, Safe man keep it up.

Mtl6: it sounds a lot like a lullaby, I don't hear any trap influence at all, I don't really know what to say about it, how long have you been producing?

Kreutzbube, I really love your pads and synth work, it seems like it'd be at the start menu of ape escape or something, minus the bass, I am enjoying this.

Here's mine, soundcloud fucks the Quality but you get the idea.

@CYRHEN: First off, it’s a good start. My initial reaction is that the drums are too quiet and the bass is too loud without really being big, if that makes any sense... I would parallel compress your drums, turn them up a big, turn down your bass a bit, EQ out any useless frequencies in the bass, then put reverb on the top end of it and maybe some saturation or compression on the mids. Of course that’s only my opinion so take it how you will.

@kreutzbube: Digging the pad and percussion in the intro. Super groovy. That snare is great too, the verby crunchy sound works perfectly. And the vocals sound great too man. I’m impressed. My main crit is just that the bass line should change up a bit, give it some fills, use some different notes every few measures or something. Does that make sense? Definitely finish this one up.

@Kes-Es: Well fuck. That’s fat. Are you planning on making an intro? Although I think it actually kinda works just as a massive explosion immediately, an intro could be dope. Why did you fade it out early? I was curious to hear the rest! Great production though, that bass is huge.

Here's mine, very rough in terms of structure, but hopefully not too far off mix wise. Let me know if that's not the case. I'm also not sure if I should try and add a melody or anything either. Opinions welcome! Thanks in advance.

mthrfnk - "untitled-drop-wip"
Overall I liked it. I think that the continuous bass note is too quiet. Same for the voice, it deserves a bit more presence. The reeses are really great, and so are the fills with the stabs".

Kongret - "fear wip"
The emotional change between the sadness of the intro and the happiness of the part that starts around 1:10 is nice. The drop may lack layers of other instruments (easier said than done I do agree).
The guitar part is really nice, and adds to the contrast between sadness and happiness i just talked about. Great job.

alexeyhermann- "last night i had a dream wip"
I think that the drums on the intro have a tad too much reverb on it. The piano seems too loud.
The transition between intro and buildup is nice, the wobbly rising sub is gorgeous. Stuff is too much panned to my taste.
Drop is great, I was surrounded by multiple sounds, and just had to surrender, and that's what's great. As someone said in the comments, I think you nailed perfectly the drums so that they are a melodic instrument much more than a rythm giver. They respond well to the bass sounds.

My wip :
No real mixdown has been made on it, apart from the tweaking that goes along with writing. Intro is pretty thin, still needs more work but I wanted to include it so that you'd get the ambiance.

@HADDA Pretty dope to hear your version of civilization for the contest..digging the intro and those drums are nice and subby I like it

@FAARE FACED Diggin those percs and I like that bright tail off that snare I find myself using them more often as well...perfect for drumstep.
Drop is nice I just feel like the high pitched layer is too high but I like the low end

@Johnst I like the vocal this definitely give me that OG Dub vibe good work! Nice subs too

@CYRHEN: Those vocals are weird lol. The track seems empty on the intro - try thinking about some more layers rather than just the pad and main synth. I would recommend taking out the drum fills tbh, they don't seem to fit. A good way to fill out a track and make it flow better is using cymbals or sweeps - sweep down from the start then sweep up (reverse cymbal) to the drop, and down again at the drop etcetc.

@FAARE FACED: Like you said the intro is pretty thin, an arp might liven it up along with some sweeps. Drums are nice though, perhaps just boost the kick and snare a little through the mix. Drop has some good ideas but it's a little muddy and I feel the high synth is too loud, tone that down and EQ the other midrange/basses to sit better and boost them up.

@HADDA: Ambient intro, good shit. Really like the vox on the build, has a nice deep feel overall. I was expecting a reesy bass on the drop, but I get the minimal vibe you're going for however for me the track is too empty and needs something more to stop it becoming repetitive (although thats just personal preference).

@Johnst: Nice dubby feel on the intro. That bass is deep, and because of that I think the kick and snare need more punch as they get a little lost. Not sure what else to suggest tbh.

Thanks for previous feedback, took a bit of a break from my previous track and knocked this up earlier - the wobbly bass is pretty lame but idc I like the ideas.

@Hadda, was really feeling you're track, nice deep vibes! I've been producing for the last few hours though so my ears are done and couldnt listen properly or loud so will have another listen tomorrow...

In fact I'm going to check all the latest tunes on here tomorrow when my ears are live again.

@kreutzbube
nice work, needs more movement though.

@krinj
this is also good work. soundcloud does lose quality but I think this is clipping. bounce out your track a couple db lower and re upload.. the idea you got sounds quite good honestly.

justanotherdj I think the vocals in the intro are a little too quiet, but they do serve their purpose. It gets kind of repetitive fast, try adding other percussion and some incidentals! I like the drum work though! The open hat is a bit too loud. Maybe add a tad bit of reeverb to the snare?

mthrfnk I actually listened to this earlier today when on soundcloud! As always, I'm extremely impressed by your work! All of your synths sound so full, especially when the strings come in around 0.27. The vocals killed it IMO. Certain parts of it sound in tune, others sound way off too me. So I'd say cut out the parts that sound in tune (it could be just me but I think you may hear it too!) I'm ironically trying to make something chilled as well.

FAARE FACED Everything sounds dry imo. You said it yourself the intro is dry, but I feel like the drums are as well, along with the synth you used. I like the drop a lot though! Still not feeling the drum samples. Absolutely filthy reeses though, good job. Vocal samples are on point too!

Eh, started this an hour ago. Can't think of what else to add/improve so I'm probably going to bed now

Mthrfnk: Mix down is quality, Maybe a bit more variation or something to take your mind off the piano a bit.

BaasDNB: Your track builds nicely... Your were losing my attention a little bit around 00:40 and early on but it recovers later on.
It'd be cool to change up the longer sub note/hit a bit.

Dotcurrency: Pretty good so far, the mid range seems a bit washed out on headphones. Dig the vocals...
