Depends what you want, since they're both pretty different pieces of kit. The launchpad is a grid of buttons, vs the padkontrol which is velocity sensitive for playing drums. For triggering clips and scenes in Ableton, the Launchpad will work well and interface nicely with Ableton. If you always use full level on your samples and don't need velocity then it'd be fine for finger drumming too. If you're looking for more of an instrument controller, you'd probably want to go with something like the padkontrol, mpd, mpc element, etc.

However there's also the KMI QuNeo which beats out all the formers in terms of features while suffering maybe in the ease of configuration department. You can use it effectively as a launchpad or a drum controller, plus it's got lots of other bells and whistles. Watch a couple videos on it, looks pretty dope. And it's incredibly cheap for what you get. It's definitely on my shortlist for gear to pick up.

Ahh duude the colours hahaha, i love it! Its a very interesting design, bit above my budget but I like how it has elements of both the other controllers i wanted. Yeah i will consider this one. Any other suggestions anyone?

I entered a Dubspot contest to win an Ableton Push and didn't get it :(
Those fuckers, they were supposed to announce it last Wednesday too. Gonna have to kill whoever won first place.

I was never really that horny for the Push until the prospect of winning one came about. I started looking into it and thinking how I'd use it and realized it might actually be really dope. The price is kinda steep though. Who knows, it might be something I pick up. I want a piece of that hardware workflow that you can really only get with something that's tightly integrated into your software.

Pity you suck at music.
Better luck next time though.

Used one once, seemed very solid and nice to use, I currently have the DJM350, which is a similar size from what I can remember, also the DJM350 is a mixer I recommend if you're are looking for other options, has worked perfectly for me so far, and it's a really good size for portability too.

I have not used the Xone22 but I have used bigger mixers from Allen & Heath. Rane and Allen & Heath are my favorite DJ mixers. It looks like a decent little battle mixer.

spent the past two hours going through old grime documentaries to nab vocal cuts. Also, foldback distortion is probably my new favorite thing ever

Faur, , try and have a further scout over the weekend for you.

Also this weekend;

- giving mixdown advice to some tunes someone has sent me
- watching the four hour version of I Dream Of Wires
- recording to the sp303 and playing back over the Electribe

Might record the last one if I can figure it out and not make it sound shit.
