I thought this was a bit meh, but I possibly wasn't paying enough attention. Seemed like a good chance for some interesting sci-fi turned into a fairly standard thriller; the second earth only seemed to be necessary for the ending and the script/acting were a bit wooden.

Jokes, very Cohen Brothers-esque dark humour running through it, plus Drew Barrymore playing her least insipid role in years. Clooney does a bit of a prototype of his Men Who Stare At Goats character as well if you like that sort of thing

this was on sale the other day....why didn't I buy it?! Clooney was hilarious in Men Who Stare At Goats. I got this instead:
good movie, quite subtle at times. has a bunch of actors from The Wire supporting the main four on the front too

The Ides of March
If you are brand spanking new to the world of politics, the type of person that was shocked and surprised by the MP's expenses scandal, then you might enjoys this star-studded political drama depicting back stabbing shenanigans during a candidacy race for the U.S presidency.
If, however, you weren't born yesterday then you may well find this (as I did) drier than 'the brides' kooch in Kill Bill.
I found the characters flat and unengaging which was disappointing considering the cast included Philip Seymour Hoffman and Paul Giamatti. So much more could have been done with the ingredients at hand but what we are presented with is a lack luster attempt at engaging the younger generations in behind-the-scenes politics.
2/10

you seen Margin Call??
ii have a feeling you'd say something similar in to the above but i believe Margin Call presented the complexity of the inner workings fairly well
i haven't seen Ides of March though, so i wouldn't know how much it relates

No, I haven't seen Margin Call but i'll give it a go. Going to leave it a while though - have just started the first season of Oz.
As for Wag the Dog, well, it's a classic in my eyes. Perhaps not a 100% accurate depiction of the machinations of the U.S government, but it certainly opened my eyes to some of the possible goings on behind closed doors..... then again, I
was pretty much brand spanking new to politics when it came out

Yeah, it's more messed up than the film version. Goes into his sexual-arousal-through-violence background which (I don't think) the film does.

Masturbating over a dead cat for example.

It's been a long time since I've seen it also, it was either a cat of a dog, he stomped it to death and got horny, like ya do.

Brilliant. Watch it if you haven't.

This movie has a ridiculous amount of rotten tomatoes, but I think it's a bit of an exaggeration. It's in part written and produced by luc besson, and has many odes to his previous works, and is built on his classic little-girl-gone-killer premise. But, it does lack a lot of the depth his older movies have. Despite all its flaws, I still enjoyed it.
