Table tennis too!

Not making excuses, obviously these people are opportunistic scumbags, but- does tend to be in all the poorest areas, should tell you something....not sure what!

The whole thing just seems insane. I actually can't believe how fast and far it has escalated and how lacking in direction it is. Shit needs to get locked down tonight before more people get hurt.

And yeah LA_Boxers, that actually might be true to an extent even though you are clearly being tongue in cheek.
It's really irritating me that some people on this forum don't see it as a major issue that needs reflection on: that we have so many broken individuals in society who are so quick to become opportunistic with violence. I'm not talking small numbers here. I'm talking about entire generations of working class kids from certain areas. That's fucked up.
I think "stupid stnuc" is a really stupid reaction because, let's face it, how normal is this kind of event? Something must be seriously wrong within the structuring of our society for so many people to be so pissed off, willing to loot or generally who just don't care because they already have nothing to lose in life.

It tells me that, IF ANYTHING, the should be rioting in Kensington and Chelsea, rather than set ablaze their own impoverished communities...stupid stnuc.

How is trashing your own area anything but being a stupid tnuc? Yeah there are certain underlying issues, but anybody can see that burning down somebodys business and endangering peoples lives isnt going to solve anything. I suppose if your sister, or gf or mother was attacked or raped that would be fine because theres underlying political issues for these people.

Oh, and something tells me you lot will be paying (through taxes) for some expensive high tech American crowd control weapons in the near future. Looks like some jobs will be created through this after all.

Try peacefully assembling when you're getting hit by invisible diarrhea rays.

That's the thing, the individuals aren't trying to solve anything or call attention to anything... it's the fact they exist that makes the point.

Explanations don't equal excuses.

They already have all the riot gear- football riots, n ireland etc (although not sure they have any diorreah rays yet!) Have been holding back because it might make stuff worse. Although can't see why not the water cannons yet- even just to help firefighting?

Get the feeling they might bring it out soon though, 6000 police out in london last night, 16000 tonight.

Bit early for sensationalism and conjecture from outside our borders... our police are already horrifically well equipt for riots, they're evidently choosing to not roll out the big guns because of the whipping they've taken for using excessive force at other recent protests. One of the reasons this kicked off was because of excessive use of force. They've got access to sonic crowd-control weapons and were chastised by the public earlier this year for planning to use them.

If this goes on for another night I'd be surprised not to see the water cannons and rubber bullets/beanbag rounds start coming out. Tbh, at that point I don't think many around here would disagree... righteous indignation is so easy when it's not your friends houses that are being attacked.

LOL @ Wub

Batter a few crusty hippy types at the G20 protests, but as soon as yoot start with bricks and sticks...

The point is your fine with everybody doing all this, so long as the government is held accountable? Yes there are failings but that doesnt give them an excuse. Say I go to Burger King and ask for no gherkins and they put gherkins in my burger, does that give me a right to then smash the shop up, phsically attack the people that work there, punish people and ruin lives of people who may feel exactly the way I do?

These people are not doing it due to their hate of the government, theyre doing it to look big, get free stuff and cause the same trouble they usually do and be more likely to get away with it.
