Very close, using saw waves here. Still get a brassy sound so I think I am doing something fundamentally wrong with my pads.

Perhaps it has something to do with the order of your effects chain? Try upping your wet signal/decay time on your reverb patch?

At the drop, there's a real distorted bassline I'm getting close to, but it's like I'm missing some typical type of effect. Any idea's?

This is rather tricky to explain because pretty much every wobble you hear after the drop has his own channel and is linked to different effects.

EDIT: Great bassline btw :P

Yeah I noticed too, the bassline in my tune Mau! (in my sig) at 1.05 is comparable , but i'm wondering how they're bringing the extra grittiness

I know this has probably already been asked on here, but I looked and couldn't find it anywhere... search tool found nothing, and tried to scroll through as many posts on here as I could.
I'm trying to make that lead synth that is in Emalkay's "When i look at you".... and something similar but a little nicer i think is the lead in Pendulum's "Set me on Fine" from their Immersion album

i've tried detuning squares, saws, triangles, pwm's.... changing the filter cutoff and res to shape the timbre, tried monophonic with pitch cutoff with glide... chorus, reverb... and all kind of combinations... but I am getting nowhere close, does anybody have any idea just how to get something similar to this... I can hear the synth in emalkay's song has an lfo to filter cutoff but i can't get the right timbre

Not every modulation source is an LFO.

As for your question - try some basic square waves with white noise. And fuck with the noise. Modulate the pitch. Keep listening to the lead and find out what's missing in yours.

The effect on the vocal around 0:03 - 0:08, what's that?

I've tried Ableton Live's Frequency Shifter, close but not quite it.

Just automate the pitch.

Or use a ramp LFO to control the pitch.

Or glide the keys.

Wobble at 1:24, that bass has some gritty bitcrushed/waveshaped sharpness to it. Anyone knows whats the waveform and distortion combination?

The oscillation that is going on is a pulse wave and a noise generator.

Couldn't tell you how to get anywhere near that sound though...

there's a sound i've heard quite a few times before but the only example i can think of is in doctor p's sweet shop and i don't really want to give that, but seeing as it's all i've got
first off,
it's not the "yoy" synth
and no, it's not the high pitched one
it sounds kinda of like a pan pipe, but it's obviously not
if you listen between 31-34 seconds, you can hear it
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oZkzcm7ubQg
my guess is that it's basically just whitenoise with a few oscs running the tone of it, but i'm not getting very far with it
any help?

Yea that's what I hear is some oscs with whitenoise ran thru a filter. It sounds like a pretty basic massive patch to me.

Gonna try the pulse wave + noise. Probably theres some kind of waveshaping involved there, too.

Thanks for replying!
